  Muy agradable

  Desayuno exquisito!!! Habitaciones pequeñitas pero las camas muy cómodas. El lago justo enfrente y párking gratis al lado. Fenomenal. Solo estuvimos una noche pero estuvo bastante bien, lo recomiendo.

  Wonderful hotel

  Our visit at San Gottardo was perfect. A room with a nice lake view, the staff was always friendly and helpful. The room was big, very clean and enough space also in the bathroom. The hotel is in front of the ferry terminal and on Friday there is a market in front of the hotel but the windows are totally soundproof, so it is just an advantage to be in the middle of the town. (We even thought the market did not take place because we did not hear anything.)

  Excellent in all respects.

  My wife and I were on a motorcycling tour of the Alps and Italian lakes. We stayed for two nights. The hotel appears to have been refurbished to a very high standard. We had a room overlooking the lake and it could not be faulted. The secure basement car parking was also much appreciated. Otherwise, the standard of service and breakfast/dining offer were all very good and location was very handy. Lastly, the price for what was offered was very reasonable. A most enjoyable stay.

  Ok but outdated

  Many hotels in Italy look like this one, clean but hopelessly outdated and in need of a facelift. Price was ok for the area, staff was friendly, free parking and ok breakfast. Location could probably not be better. There is just something with the outdated feel that puts you off when comparing this hotel to other hotels in this price range around the world. Not a fair comparison but still...

  A grand old hotel that recalls a more romantic time of travelling

  Ideally located on the lakefront, with gorgeous views and directly across from the landing for the lake ships, this is the perfect place to start exploring Lago Maggiore. Pallanza is nowhere as touristy and hectic as Stresa so is a good base if youre wanting something calmer. The Gottardo is one of two grand old hotels that are joined together. Our room was large, with lovely high ceilings and great sound insulation: we couldnt hear a thing from the street. We didnt have a view (as we hadnt paid for a lake view) but there were nice big windows opening out to the lanes beside the hotel with something Id never seen before: electric self-opening shutters! Clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was a very nice buffet with cakes, cappuccino, scrambled eggs etc. Very friendly, professional and helpful staff.
