  Pleasant Hotel in a Prime Location

  The hotel is a short walk from the station and also close to the interesting old part of Ashikaga with the cobbled streets, craft shops and the Bannaji Temple and Gakko, the oldest university school in Japan. The room was a good size for Japan, clean, and the décor interesting with lots of pictures in the hotel of modern metallic fabrication in the halls and a framed silk embroidered still-life picture in our room. Bed was hard though. Breakfast at the hotel starts at 6.45 am. which is great if you have a lot to do in the day as we did. Breakfast was really good - fish (salmon), gratin pasta, rice, miso, salad, orange juice and coffee.

  short walk to Ashikaga station

  We chose to stay at this hotel because it is short walk from the Ashikaga station. There are no rooms for 3 people so we had to book a double and a single. The rooms were clean and the single bed was very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was good. A good comfortable hotel for an overnight stay.

  Well placed clean, friendly business hotel

  Very good business hotel with a public bath. We stayed in a comfort double, slightly bigger than the common 'semi-double' type room. The staff at the reception were friendly and helpful (gave us train timetable, info about opening hours of sites to visit etc..). Well placed in 'old Ashigaka' centre for visiting sites, Close to the JR station (for those with JR passes or coming/going to Nikko, or to go by train to Ashikaga flower park or to the Kurita-- pottery--museum). . 10 minutes walk to Tobu train station, which is the main line to go directly to Tokyo (express), or to catch the bus to Ashikaga flower park (the bus return route stops just in front of the hotel). Free wifi in rooms + computer in small room downstairs.

  Good mid level business hotel

  Route Inn Ashikaga is a good medium level business hotel. Do not expect more than the usual service and room amenities. Rooms are tiny but well maintained and clean. Breakfast is good - Japanese style.

  Short walk to Ashikaga Station

  This is a business hotel that is clean and comfortable. Rooms are average sized for Japan and the bathroom is compact, breakfast is adequate. A word of advice if you are looking for a restaurant nearby, the Japanese, Korean bar-b-q restaurant next door has good food BUT beware of the cost. Although it is not stated, food on the English menu is charged per person NOT per item so it comes as a nasty surprise when the amount you are expecting to pay is doubled if there are two of you.
