One to avoidThe good points first - room was clean, hotel staff generally helpful. Bad points - I have never stayed at a hotel with such a sterile atmosphere, the place just sucks the life out you with the most drab decor and its very communist vibe. It is located forty minutes walk from the town in a pretty foul area, and for your sake i hope you get a sea view room because the alternative is that of a rubbish dump. Breakfast was poor even for a three star and most definately not worth the 10 euros. To use the hotel pool you MUST purchase a swimming cap, albeit for only 2 euros but it gives you a taster of how they will try anything to get your cash. The icing on the cake was the so called 'private beach'. Perhaps naively, as hotel guests we expected this to be free for us to use. Imagine our surprize when we discovered that we would have to pay extra for the privilage, 10 euro per day for a deck chair or 19 euro (or 20, depending who you speak to?!) for a sun bed. The charge is mandatory - there is no option to lay you towel on the sand and use beach for free. Disgraceful. As a final point - the locals will make you feel about as welcome as the flu, never experienced anything like it. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Not a good value for moneyWe chose this hotel for a longer stay during our visit of Italy, to be able to travel to Rome, to Naples and so on ... but were dissapointed over the hotel service. The hotel does have a free parking and is close to the sea, but they could do so much more in other areas, especially the cleanliness of the rooms. They do not vacuum-clean the rooms, but only clean with wet cloth so we could find other colours of hair than ours in the bathroom when we got back to the room. Towels that were put in the bathroom after cleaning, could be washed better, since they had stains on. Once we also had to remind the hotel staff to put a toilet paper in the bathroom and clean the room better. You would expect this maybe from a budget hotel (and not even there, as cleanliness should be something natural), not here, where the price is not even low. The wi-fi only works in a lobby, not in a room. If you reserve a room through booking.com, you get a 24hour free wifi code, but it only works on one device. The staff at the reception is only moderately kind, not all of them speaks English. You would need and adapter for electricity in the room, which you can get at the reception. Be careful not to use the air-conditioning together with hairdryer or similar appliance as the electricity goes out! Rooms are ok, comfortable, with balcony, but the hotel could use some renovation, especially from the outside (facade). The good thing is they have a shuttle that takes you to the centre of the city (return ticket 5 EUR). Breakfast is just average, only one kind of white bread available, not always fresh.

Lovely budget hotelFor a good priced hotel the service is excellent the staff cannot do enough for you, with a beach that's only a short walk alway, this is a good budget hotel well worth a visit, the food is good and there are lots of local attractions worth a visit

Positive but also negative feelingsWe spent a nice holiday week at the hotel River Palace in Terracina in mid June. There were a lot of positive things at the hotel: good service at the reception, among shuttle car drivers, cleaning ladies etc. and a big 25 meters long swimming pool in the backyard with a kids' pool next to it. The beach was also nearby. There weren't too many hotel guests at the hotel since the summer season was just beginning: Mainly Finnish people, some Russians and Italians too. In general the hotel was kept clean and it was nice to stay there with small children, even though there weren't many other kids there at the time. Even the maintainance worked well: when we arrived, our air-conditioning was leaking a lot of water, the shower was broken and the batteries of the tv remote control were leaking too. All of these were fixed in no time before the noon of the second day after our arrival. Another question of course is, shouldn't these have been fixed already before the hotel quests arrive. But I guess this is just a part of the mediterranean mentality. And you also have to remember that this indeed is a three stars hotel. But then to the negative things: the downside of the hotel is of course the location, far away outside the town. Notice, that there aren't many taxis in Terracina nor public transportation that would cover the area where the hotel is located. The hotel shuttle bus service was working quite nicely, though, in the beginning of the season. But I wonder whether it will work later in the summer when the hotel is totally full. Another major flaw was that the pool life guards added loads of chlorine to the pool even when there were swimmers in the pool, and even without any warning! I hardly think this was healthy to the swimmers. This is something that the hotel management should really discuss with the life guards, particularly with the guy who looked like a former weight lifter or body builder. Despite the downsides, our stay at the hotel and in Terracina was mainly very positive and there were several members of the staff who were really helpful, even though not all of them spoke English. The owner family was also very nice and took could care of the guests and also spoke good English.

Mixed feelingsThis simple hotel offers a good enough accommodation for a reasonable price. It has free parking facilities, free wifi (ask per device access at the reception). Breakfast included. Rooms (and baths) are quite spacious, most of them comes with a balcony. There is a safe, a fridge, and enough shelves in the room. The sea is about 4-5 minutes walk, that is a good point :O) The atmosphere of the facility is not remarkable at all; in addition the building itself (especially the staircase) is not the cleanest one. Though not a skyscraper, there are more little-room elevators from the 19th century, but they proved to be useful. Staff is helpful. It is an average, but otherwise a correct accommodation. I saw better ones in Terracina, but I had a great time here nevertheless.
