Good hotel - But seems not ideal for a stay in the winter

The good things: - Clean high quality new rooms with good amenities and balcony. - Quiet - Close to the fantastic beach - Professional staff - Parking right in front of the hotel - empty deserted street. Things to be improved: - Bathroom amenities - for example conditioner - 24 hrs on-site staff availability - now we felt like being the only occupants of the hotel - or the whole area - at night. - No beach or sea-view - Breakfast poor - Area of hotel seems poorly maintained - bad roads, not so clean. The hotel is in the middle of a residential area full of apartments apparently empty in winter. We arrived to a closed gate. We called the hotel and the manager had to travel still from another town, we were indeed too early but did not expect to arrive to a closed hotel. The area seemed completely deserted - a ghost town with empty deserted streets covered with pot holes and loose sand - it was winter indeed. We waited for the owner on the fantastic beach nearby. When the owner arrived he showed us to our room. A new hotel, but no elevator it seems. Room was good, warm, spacious bathroom and amenities expected of good 3 or 4 star hotel. When we arrived again in the night after dinner, the whole area seemed dark, deserted and empty. Spooky... We opened the hotel gate with our room-key, the sound seemed loud in the empty streets, and the hotel, and our room. But no sign of life anywhere except us. Even the lights of the hotel were on (but the reception was closed and lights off). So we went to bed feeling like the only occupants of a ghost town. I woke up in the night hearing an alarm sounding nearby, thinking this area to be a great place for burglars now since no-one around at all. And apparently no-one to shut down the alarm. The alarm kept ringing all night until someone stopped it around 8am. We got up and went for breakfast, finding the reception open and three staff inside, but only us as customer. We paid for the room and for breakfast which consisted of a coffee and a croissant, but a second croissant was possible. Good place in summer I think. Would not stay here again in winter. Felt a bit like an adventure but not very comfortable.

    Good place

The hotel is in Baia Verde, a few minutes drive to Gallipoli. It is very close to fantastic beaches. The room is clean, new and comfortable. There is a balcony. Staff is friendly and breakfast is very good. Only problem there is no lift to the floors.

    Una muy buena opción

En julio/17 nos alojamos en el HOTEL RISBERG Viale Della Chiesa 15 - Loc. Baia Verde, Gallipoli.

    Dining at the restaurant

I enjoyed all about It. The seafood I and my guests chose was excellent in terms of quality and the way it was presented. In particular I loved the 'Trittico di mare' starter but everything was delicious from the saute' di cozze to the main course, the second and the dessert - a flavoursome chocolate and hazelnut Spumone (a local icecream). The meal was accompanied by a very nice rose' wine made locally. The place was lovely, classy, very clean and welcoming. The waiter was obviously very experienced as he knew what he was doing contributing to customer satisfaction by being effective, helpful, easy to find and friendly. Everything was easy and perfectly done and it was good value for money too. They also offer a take-away service at the bar in case youlive nearby (in the Baia Verde) and prefer home-dining, a Pizzeria zone for more casual dining and a lovely 'al fresco' lounge. Overall I can say I'd definitely go back very happily.

    Great place for visiting beaches

If you are looking for a place to stay close to the beach, this is it. The beaches are really close walking distance. Other than that, there is nothing else near by that is waking distance. It can get a little loud due to the club being near by. We checked in early and luckily they were able to accommodate us. The rooms were on the ground floor and they were clean. The shower water pressure was ok, but the AC works great though. There is not much space in the room, but its really just for sleeping and showering. Our bathroom did not have a window or vent, but our friends bathroom had a window. They have black out curtains in the room. Someone else mentioned every room having a balcony, we did not have a balcony. We did have two chairs outside our room. Im not sure if it was due to the language barrier, but I was not given any information regarding the hotel except for parking, because I asked. We werent given The times for the restaurant, so we missed it twice. they do have a cafe bar so you can order cornetti and some drinks. The hotel ristorante is ok. Breakfast is the typical Italian cornetti type. They have cheese, ham and salami as well. If you miss lunch or dinner, good luck finding a place to eat thats waking distance. Not sure if its due to current events, but most of the restaurants appear to be closed. We werent given check out time, but we left early anyways. Someone mentioned they were given passes for lidos, but we did not. The Hotel does offer parking, but its street parking. They give you a parking pass and you find parking around the hotel streets. Luckily we Found one and didnt drive anywhere until we left. We took a taxi to Gallipoli town center which was 15 euros. The taxi driver said 5 euros for each person so not sure how legit that is. Nonetheless, its only a 7 mins ride and was worth it for us. I would recommend this hotel if your primary goal is to visit the beaches.
