  Great Find!

  We were planning to stay in Freiburg, where after a few hours we were ready to leave. Luckily we stopped in Ihringen and found this hotel and had a great two night stay. The room we had was very large with a nice view of town. The breakfasts were varied and plentiful, and the dinner we ate there of fish, mushroom risotto, and local wine was also wonderful. This town is a great place from which to explore the regional wineries and head into France, which we did, going to Colmar, Ribeauville, and a couple of other beautiful towns. There were other restaurants in town that we wish we had had the time and appetite to try.

  Nice hotel, restaurant so-so service.

  The hotel was very nice. The room was comfy and typical European; no fridge or microwave. The restaurant, however, was another story. We were there on a Saturday night and it took 30 minutes to get my salad, after waiting about 10 minutes for a server to arrive in the first place. The servers were unfriendly at best. I will not return. 3 stars only because I like the hotel (2 stars for the restaurant, 4 for the hotel).

  Excellent in every way.

  I have taken my groups to Brautigams Hotel in Ihringen, Germany, (in the far southwest near Freiburg) for over 30 years and it just keeps getting better. The rooms are spacious, immaculate, beautifully decorated and quiet. The food is fantastic and some of the best in central Europe. Above all, the service is better than what I have found in some of the 5 star hotels in Switzerland and England. Friendly and helpful, the staff is always there to help. Verena and Mario, the young, talented owners of the hotel, are the exceptional cooks as well. This is truly a gem.

  Nice place

  We had a friendly welcome and lovely big rooms. There was nothing missing in the room. The breakfast was really excellent, the food in the restaurant was good but there are also a lot of restaurants around the hotel. Would love to go back there.

  An excellent dinner for 63

  We were invited to a 70th birthday party at Brautigam's Restaurant, with 61 other guests and had a very enjoyable evening there. An excellent starter was served at the table, while the main course and dessert were both from the buffet. Preparing food for over 60 people is not easy but Brautigam's did it magnificently. Dishes for the main course included lamb, beef, chicken and salmon and there was also a wide choice of desserts. The service throughout the evening complimented the excellent food.
