  Surprising treat

  This cute little inn was not at all what I expected ....what a great experience for the price! Set in a tiny town in the midst of gorgeous countryside, I didn't expect to also find such lovely, relaxing spa facilities - we particularly enjoyed the infrared sauna and steam shower. The rooms are ample and clean. The icing on the cake was the special Christmas lunch they served on 12/26 - I would return just for the Christmas goose. Yum!

  A really great place to stay!

  My stay here has been delightful. The room where I've stayed is adequately spacious and very comfortable. The staff has been very helpful and willing to accommodate every request. The breakfast was not overly bountiful, but nice. I also felt very refreshed after a visit to the infrared sauna, and the meal I had was tiptop-I left the restaurant with the "after-dinner-glowing" sort of feeling you have after you have eaten a very full and delicious meal! Before closing out this review, I'll take a minute to respond to the "Fawlty Towers!" review: this is not southern Germany, this is the north, where people interact in a way that is just a little more "sachlich" and so be aware that how often someone smiles has nothing to do with how nice he/she is or what a person knows about service, and so it seems your review reveals far more about how you think than it says about the hotel itself. Personally, I would recommend Schlei-Liesel without reservation!

  Helpful owners and spotlessly clean

  A good spot. My sheet bag and sleeping bag stayed unfurled in my case as the room was both clean and warm: the bar times (usually due to close at 10) are flexible if you are back on time to intercept the Frau - important if you are working late late and need a nightcap! I didn't sample them but the host also has a good selection of single malts on display- especially considering the remote setting. In any case I would go back. And I'm fussy... and from Nordirland!

  A Great Surprise

  After nine hours of driving I was ready for a rest before dinner. I was welcomed by one of the owners and shown to my very clean room. It was larger than expected and contained a small kitchen. The WiFi worked very well as did the TV. There was a news station in English on the TV. The restaurant meal was excellent. I had two regional dishes I enjoyed. I bought a packet of sausages they make to take home along with a local sauce eaten with the sausages. The wild boar salad was also amazing. It was an excellent stay with reasonable prices. I will return.

  Excellent local cuisine, unpretentious

  We needed a place to stop for lunch on the road and happened upon this little guest house/restaurant. It is homey and the food was good and very authentic. Portions were generous. I had Sauerfleisch for the first time and really enjoyed it. My friend had a huge and beautiful salad with a large slice of grilled goat cheese. She said it was delicious and she ate every bite.
