Friendly welcome, nice rooms for the price, excellent restaurant valueNot a trendy place, just a small french provincial hotel with a restaurant. We weren't expecting much and the welcome was friendly, the rooms confortable and the simple daily dinner menu a real treat. We tried the home smoked salmon ( the salmon comes from l'Adour, the local river, can you believe it ?) and it was delicious, the way smoked salmon was decades ago before industrial fish farms. The wine selection is excellent and even half bottles for 2. A quiet night (the hotel has an elevator)and breakfast was served and was good and plentiful. We had an early start as we were walking on the ''camino'' to Santiago de Compostella. And we bought some of their smoked salmon to garnish our sandwiches for the day . By the way, the baker next door makes excellent bread and his neighbour the butcher local ''andouillette'' (sausage) worthwhile trying. The is also a local brewery called ''Shakespeare'' run by an English couple and a cigar maker (by hand) which I both tried and enjoyed thoroughly ! Cheers!

Once again a very pleasant staythe writer has been overnighting in Le Commerce for approx 20 years.. the hotel and the town of Amou are charming and well worth with the visit. and as always the dinner was excellent with local specialities foie gras canard and wines to go..jurancon ..and madiran......then the selection of Armagnac....log fire in the restaurant an excellent breakfast and on the way over the mountains to Spain and on the Darracqs ( patrons) and staff are pleasant and helpful......sadly we had a rainy day ..stayed for two nights and will defintely return..Amou is an easy though lengthy drive from S Malo. room / bed very comfortable Thanks/Merci bien Sylvie et Jean Jacques

Typical small family run French hotelIf you are travelling in the Landes and are anywhere near Amou this is the place to stay. The rooms are fairly large and the ensuite bathrooms are adequate. The restaurant is traditional , with an emphasis on local products. There is a mixture of a la carte and standard menus and the quality is always good. We keep coming back when we fancy a day or two away without travelling too far. Service is usually very good and always with a smile.

Good French cuisine, but understaffed! We had a nice summer evening on terrace restaurant du Commerce. Each summer holiday in Chalosse we eat here. Menu card was more compact, which is better. You can eat a la card or a 3 cours menu for 17 euro and 31 euro. Food was delicious and better than last time. All combined with good wines, BUT with 60 guests and 2 servants you need to wait a bit long towards end of evening and ordering / pay system could be more efficient. Overall nice place to eat in Chalossais village.
