View over the SeineInteresting location below the Tancarville Bridge on the banks of the Seine. Adequate parking and we were made welcome. Room are clean but outdated, felt like the 60s. The food was good but not exceptional. Gardens down too the Seine needed tidying but was quite relaxing having a drink outside watching the boats go by. Wi-Fi was provided but the television was complex to get working.

Don't let the appearance fool you, great restaurantThis review is on the restaurant at LaMarine. I did not stay here. We had lunch at this place on a wonderful autumn day. When you arrive you might think twice, mmmm...., looks dodgy. When you enter, this is confirmed by a dated smell (trust me when you enter you know exactly what I mean). Don't let all of this fool you. Chin up, sit down and enjoy. The kitchen is wonderful with typical northern France style cuisine, closely sea related. We went for a 3 course combination meal which is the cost effective way to go here as the place is not the cheapest. They have an intensive menu with all sorts of gorgeous meals and enjoyments, but if you take that route, bring your wallet. All courses were excellent and were reflecting the great French cuisine. The staff is super friendly and have passion for their profession. Something you don't see very often any more. They gave us great recommendations and made our lunch a prefect treat. I can recommend this place for (business) lunches and dinners. Especially if you visit the local chemical industry. You go here for the quality of the food, the decor of the place is very dated and it should be brought back into the 21st century. Its not charming. The views are to die for, absolut perfect spot on the Seine river. See the pictures!!!!

Much better than a 2 star ratingThe 2 stars vastly underrate this hotel. Our accommodation was spacious and very comfortable with a great view of the Seine and the Tancarville bridge. The food in the restaurant is truly excellent and just about the best value we've ever found in France ( and over the years we must have eaten at 100+). All the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Excellent food, hotel averageThe hotel is not difficult to find, at the foot of the Tancarville bridge, although currently road works cause the access to the bridge a bit more complicated. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with fruit on the table. The hotel is clean but, as written in another post, smells "old". We had an excellent dinner there, but the restaurant is closed on Sunday evening. Breakfast was adequate on the first day, but on the second morning of our stay, the coffee was reheated from the day before. As the breakfast is not included in the price of the room, I find it a bit indecent. All this being said, the staff (hotel owner?) is very friendly and happy to help.

PAST IT'S BESTWe stayed at the Marine for 1 night last week and found it overpriced, dowdy(inside and out) and very noisy. Our 85 euro rooms were dark, the double bed very small and had constant traffic noise. We were looking forward to our meal in the lovely restaurant overlooking the Seine but left wishing we had chosen somewhere else! We chose the 25euro menu and my main of veal was so dry I sent it back. My husbands and daughters meals were also very poor. Needless to say we weren't going to stay for breakfast at 12euros after our dinner fiasco! A lot of perseverance plus the ability to speak French I did manage to get a discount small discount off the bill! The following 2 nights spent in a wonderful hotel in the Orne made up for the general poor quality of the hotel Marine.
