    Luxury in the snow

We stayed at Gilles Moreau on 21 February 2015 and were delightfully surprised. We went to Laguiole for the knives but would go back for this hotel and restaurant. The service from when we arrived to when we left was superb. The food in the restaurant was plentiful and top quality as was the selection of wines. I require gluten free and this was no problem at all to the kitchen staff. I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant to all, especially at this time of year when the snow was plentiful and still falling.

    Pleasant Stay - Great Staff

We stayed for two nights. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and at least the one who checked us into the hotel spoke excellent English. The rooms are well-maintained. They are small, but normal by French standards. There was no air-conditioning in our room. Street parking is ample with no charge.

    Good hotel, excellent food

Comfortable room of a decent size and decor (apart from the lilac-coloured paint in the bathroom!), but no air conditioning. Polite and helpful staff, equally happy to converse in French or English. The outstanding feature was the food, which was of excellent quality and beautifully presented.

Very relaxing hotel with a fabulous restaurant.

We went to Laguiole for a night because we wanted to explore the beautiful region of Aveyron in south central France. We were rewarded with perfect weather and endlessly rolling green landscapes that gently calmed our spirits after a hectic week at work. Laguiole is smaller than I expected. A compact village, rather than a town, famous for it's cheese (and you can visit the vast fromagerie on the edge of the village), the manufacture of high-quality and highly expensive knives and an array of wonderful agricultural products. Strangely, for me, there is a complete absence of vinyards around Laguiole and so the wine on sale there comes from elsewhere. If you want peace during the summer months and enjoy hiking and camping then Laguiole is for you. It is the perfect center for an outdoor holiday. However, I imagine that things change quite dramatically in winter when the place is crammed with skiers, not a social group that I have much to do with. We found the Hotel Gilles Moreau to be the perfect place to stay. With simple but perfectly adequate rooms, spacious public areas and friendly, helpful staff, it provided very easy and relaxing accommodation in the center of the village and very much at the top end of it's three-star designation. The hotel restaurant was outstanding. With a carefully designed eating area, allowing diners to simply relax, plenty of floor space between tables and discreet music, it was exactly what we were looking for. The service could be a little quicker but not much, this is, after all, in the heart of the countryside so what's the rush? The food served there is simply wonderful with everything prepared to the highest standard, using local products. Dinner was even better than hoped and we did not expect to be disappointed. I am sure that, after your visit, you will want to join me in congratulating the chef.

    terrific food

very happy to come here again after 5 years, the food is terrific, we had a 3-course meal tonight with an amuse bouche and some post desserts. The fish course was spectacular. It was St. Peter's Fish (John Dory) with polenta, lobster sauce, zucchini, and carrots. In French, I think they call it St. Pierre's Fish.
