Do not book this hotel if you enjoy an evening stroll or cannot speak Italian fluently

We visited this hotel last month and found the staff to be absolutely awful. The hotel is ok but not exactly picturesque as its situated opposite a petrol station and forget going for a pleasant walk in the evening, there are no pavements/sidewalks and you take your life in your hands leaving the hotel on foot. The staff took pleasure in making us feel uncomfortable when we tried to speak Italian, especially Rita on reception. They pretended not to understand slowly spoken Italian. "Vino Blanco Por Favor" pronounced very carefully just resulted in head shakes and quizzical looks as if we were speaking Martian. We were really trying our best but the deliberate cruelty of Rita and the rest of the staff just made us feel very unwelcome and we resorted to just speaking English and pointing at stuff. We couldn't wait for the holiday to finish. The area is lovely and well worth a visit but just try to find a hotel where paying guests are treated with respect.

    DONOT BOOK THIS HOTEL FOR A 4 **** EXPERIENCE !!!! 2 ** AT BEST

I stayed in this hotel for a week in July with my husband whilst visiting relatives. This property is more of a function Centre and focuses it's business on that more than the hotel. The hotel rooms are old and in very bad condition with holes in the bathroom vanity, paint peeling off the walls, doors that don't close and cracked spa bath that didn't work either. Linen is old and scratchy. This hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, air conditioning doesn't work and very noisey, breakfast is poor and offers no variety. There is no bar so you can't have any drinks whilst waiting or coming home from a good night out. Room where you have breakfast is all done up like your attending a wedding, really wasn't the look for breakfast, they could have removed the table cloths and chair covers it really felt awkward . Location of property suited us as it was close to our relatives just out of town. Website fails to advise that the pool area may be closed to hotel patrons if a function is booked as it happened to us 3 days out of 7, sun deck chairs are removed so you can't even sit out there and they require you to wear a rubber swimmers cap when entering the pool at a cost of # euros which is ridiculous given you are there in peak summer months, not something you would expect when on vacation. The pool area whilst nice again has tables covered with tablecloths surrounding it ready for the next function, they use the outside area for weddings, engagements 21st and any sort of party that is booked. The outside area is much nicer than the inside area. I was there 7 days and not once witnessed the pool being cleaned or the water levels tested to ensure it was safe. When I enquired if this was done I was told NO it never is by staff. Also noise levels when functions are happening is very loud so no good nights sleep as weddings can go till 3am and parties till 1am. The only positive thing about this property is some of the staff namely Paolo at breakfast who always greeted us with a smile and nothing was to much trouble and Frank on night reception who always gave us his time to have a chat and listen to our complaints. How this hotel can be rated 4 star is beyond me it's more like a 2 star at best. Don't be fooled by the photo's on websites as we were as they were taken over 20 years ago and whilst it may have looked like that then it certainly doesn't look like that now. Better places around and closer to town. When I bought to the attention of management the problems with our room they agreed to compensate us by reducing the cost by 30%, even so we still paid more than it was worth. There is ample car park both at the back of the property and over the road. At breakfast we were given plastic disposable glasses to drink our juice from, no GLASS glasses available unless you ask. Cereal is more geared at children like coco pops and rice bubbles, no muesli, dried fruits etc . If considering staying in a hotel close to Palmi do yourself a favour and give this hotel a miss and stay at Stella Maris instead which is newer and nicer and closer. We didn't know about Stella Maris as it's not advertised on many websites but trust me that will be our next place to stay when visiting that area again. DONOT STAY HERE!!!!!

What a shocking hotel, a slab of concrete is more comfortable than their beds, staff are very rude and un helpful if you don't speak Italian, the pool has restricted use when they host a function, this is everyday because they are more of a reception centre than hotel. It does not deserve nor warrant a 4 star rating, not even close more like 2. Beach is a 3km walk along the side of a winding road dodging traffic as there are no footpaths (extremely dangerous). They provide a shuttle but only once a day - drop of at 3 pick up at 7, so as there is absolutely nothing of interest to sight see, you are left to sweat in the hotel because the pool is off limits.DO NOT EVER BOOK THIS HOTEL. I promise you, you will be sorry!

Where do I start. From the minute we walked in the front door the desk staff were rude in the sense that they just sat there looking at us with an annoyed look then finally said hello without even looking at us. From there the lady went into her welcoming spool and when I said my Italian is minimal she rolled her eyes and simply handed me a key and pointed to the lift and said forth floor. The pool is fantastic but you can't use most days as the times you can are 8.00 to 11.30 am only add if there is an event e.g. wedding the pool is closed for the day so you get to spend your European holiday in your room with the air conditioning on to stay cool. If you manage to get Frank on the desk it's like winning tattslotto as he is very helpful and respectful of your needs but is still limited as to what he can do. The hotel is more a reception centre and should be advertised as such.
