  A comfortable and well-located hotel

  We had good communication prior to arrival, which is always comforting. They couldnt arrange a transfer apparently, which was a shame as we then got scammed for 15 for a 7 taxi ride, but they did arrange a return one and made sure we werent scammed again. The location turned out to be exceptional as we were there over Christmas and there was a lot going on in the square, right below us, and several restaurants close by although not as many as Id been expecting from research here. BTW, in total contrast to what some say about Praia, we thought it was a lovely town. It must be a disaster if youre looking for mass tourism or aseptic conditions, mind: this is the real Cabo Verde. The room was adequate in all respects other than lighting, which was practically non-existent. If you want to read, bring a torch! Both room and safe were designed to have electronic access but both had been downgraded to key access something that weve found in other CV hotels too. Im loath to mention our one big criticism of the hotel. I must stress that the staff were all lovely friendly and willing to help, whatever you asked for (e.g. wine to go with our Christmas lunch in our room when Praia was definitively shut!). But it seemed theyd had absolutely no training whatsoever although theyd been left in charge of the place. Only one receptionist had a little English; the rest really only seemed to speak Portuguese/Creole. Reception and bar were combined, but serving a G&T was quite beyond them. One of our cases went astray and they were very helpful, but had no idea how to compose an international telephone number. This type of inability cropped up time and again during our CV visit and I really think that both the industry and the government need to act to improve this aspect of their welcome. To finish on a high note, we thought the breakfast here was very good. They had no bacon, but they prepared eggs and spicy Brazilian-style sausage to order and each day there was a selection of savoury pastries on offer cheese, sausage, etc. They looked home-made, as did the daily cakes which were amazingly light and surprisingly low in sugar content. Both the chocolate and banana cakes were delicious. Fruit, yogurts, bread etc were all on offer too.

  Aparthotel en Plateau

  Aparthotel en el centro (Plateau) enfrente de la plaza del Ayuntamiento. Estuvimos poco tiempo, ya que fuimos por el retraso de un vuelo. Es un edifico antiguo rehabilitado con habitaciones muy bien decoradas y baño muy completo.

  Well located hotel with under-motivated staff

  Well located hotel. Clean rooms with nice views and terraces. Staff (especially at breakfast) did not seem motivated to help guests. Got the impression that they were trying to avoid hot food orders. Kitchen staff also came out and lay around reception listening to music on their phones, which felt quite unprofessional. Hotel was very quiet - we did not see any they guests.

  Absolutely central location

  Positives: - you are directly in the Plateau of the capital, the location is as much central as possible. Taking this into account, it wasn't noisy at all - we had a room with windows facing the other side, so can't say for the other rooms facing the Plateau itself. - the hotel looks quite small from the street but the rooms are much bigger than expected. You will notice that the hotel is comparatively new, with modern furniture and equipment. - the same goes for cleanliness. You just feel comfortable. Negatives: - staff at the reception could be a bit more helpful. Unlike some other reviewers, I didn't have a feeling they were uninterested, but just not informed and knowledgeable enough; maybe a language barrier was an issue as well. E.g. I needed a post office and had to google it for myself since they had no idea.

  Ideal hotel accommodation in the heart of Old Praia !

  "Praia (Plateau) Confort Hotel" was an excellent option. To be recommended without restrictions. Competent staff. Nice comfortable rooms. Ideal location in the middle of the old town, the historic centre of Praia Platô. Some nice restaurants just around the corner available.
