    Traditional hotel for ski lovers

Older style hotel with big rooms and great service. Had a welcome drink and breakfast included. We were just passing through, but ski lockers and big spa and sauna area a nice touch for all. Easy walk to train station.

    Traditional hotel with outstanding hospitality

My wife and I stayed here in February 2020 for four nights and it was hands down the best hotel experience she and I have ever enjoyed. The place feels like it has been there since the dawn of Alpine skiing, complete with the type of service you dream about. The rooms are large and comfortable, the wifi is fast, the meals are outstanding. They offer a very large breakfast spread, afternoon snack buffet and great dinners. They have thousands of wines to choose from with a focus on Austrian vineyards. The dining room host is one of the most pleasant people you will ever meet and he manages his staff very well. The ski room is conveniently located to make ski storage easy and the pool, hot tub and sauna are great in the afternoon. Overall a wonderful experience.

    What a shame!

I am still absolutely flabbergasted as to why I am writing this review! It could have been 5 out of 5 so easily. Absolutely pathetic and put simply, over an exceptionally bad attitude by the bar maid and subsequent management response. Everyone else at the hotel had looked after us perfectly. Question - given a set of ingredients, which were in stock behind the bar, would you make a cocktail to the customers request? (An espresso martini). Answer no. Ok.... would you make the same named cocktail with the wrong ingredients (baillies)..... even though you had been told it was wrong before making it and had been shown the correct recipe online as to how to make it.... would you still make it incorrectly?? answer yes! Ok so we all make mistakes...(quite hard to understand at this point)..... But having made it incorrectly, would you make it again but just swap 1 item in the ingredient list to do it right.... answer no. I asked the bar maid several times to be reasonable and apologised for any offence that we may have caused for any reason whatsoever. However when asked to mix the right ingredients she refused. This was done at least 4 times and each time she refused. I cannot see how we could have asked in any more of a polite way. Somewhat childish I accept, was to order each of the ingredients separately which she served us. We then mixed it ourselves in a large glass. It should be noted that there were no spillages or mess made in any way whatsoever....so what was the problem? The barmaid took umbrage to this and then "barred" us and told us to leave. Myself and a fellow guest were both put in a headlock by one of the barmaid's local friends and told to get out. What is that all about?? none of our 12 person group could understand what the issue was. Another one of our party watched this unfold and thought it amusing to make light of the situation and also ordered an espresso martini.... and he was barred as well. Normally I would have complained, however, i am not in the habit of doing so and thought that I should give things another try when completely sober. We returned to the hotel bar 2 days later and suggested a completely ridiculous order, that would not be the "Norm" to see if she would serve us... (port and lemonade). Yes I have the ingredients I can do that...no problem.....Ok... order cancelled.... actually what we want is an espresso, a vodka and a coffee liqueur in one glass....i.e. An expression martini... no baillies!!!! Answer no.... and told to leave and barred again.... so what we have established was that this was purely attitude.... and as such we brought it to management attention..... their response was that this was raised a few days ago by the bar maid to them and she had complained about us and said that we had been offensive to her...no doubt in an attempt to pre-empt any complaints from us..... Hmmmm...I'd like to know what we had supposed to have said because there were plenty of witnesses which would vouch to the contrary. We even apologised on several occasions for anything we may have done to upset her, for any reason whatsoever, (not that there were any) but any of our subsequent requests were turned down. We had at least 8 witnesses to support that. It was a completely incredulous situation which bemused our entire group. When I asked another member of staff if they would make us a cocktail to our specification they said "of course, if we had the right ingredients" so what was the problem? To make matters worse when we refused to pay for the original espresso martini order that was made with baillies, which I certainly did not drink, we were threatened with being thrown out of the hotel. This was probably equivalent to 30 which is nothing in the scheme of things but I was disputing it as a matter of principle. Between our group with expensive wines thrown in throughout the course of the week we probably spent in excess of £25k...How short sighted over an obstinate and unhelpful bar maid! Hotel website quotes "hospitality from the heart" & "friendly and helpful staff who does everything for your welfare". I find this particularly hard to swallow!! And corona virus which was mentioned as an excuse by some of the reception staff is no excuse. This is a crying shame and I hope that management takes this criticism on board as I seriously doubt we will ever be returning. I have never been treated like this anywhere in my life, let alone in a 4 star hotel!!

    Shocked

How to end the week on a low, the location, restaurant and rooms make this a perfect hotel to enjoy a week in St Anton. Unfortunately an issue was raised regarding a member of staff who was totally rude and disrespectful. The managers response to this was truly shocking. We were aggressively asked to leave the hotel immediately if we werent happy. Further from that the manager also threatened to call the police to help us leave the hotel. Totally Lost for words as everything else about the hotel ticked all the boxes. We wont be returning. On a positive, we have found a much nicer hotel in St Anton for our future visits

The Hotel Post warm, friendly, great food

This warm and friendly hotel in the Grand Austrian tradition is the place to stay if you are fortunate enough to ski St Anton en Alberg, Austria. It is located on the pedestrian only main street and short walk to modern ski lifts that will whisk you up to some of the best skiing in the Alps. The staff is at the ready to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Heimo, your sommelier and dinning room host, is without equal. His charm and exuberance add to the dining experience. The food is excellent, breakfast buffet, apre ski tastings (if you can bypass apre ski at the many charming slope-side Austrian pubs) and a gourmet dinner that cannot be matched. The salad bar is so extensive it can be your dinner. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with frig, TV and wifi. The boot room is equipped boot warmers and lockers matched to your room key. The wellness center (spa) has a pool big enough to swim laps, jacuzzi, steam rooms, a variety of saunas, relaxation rooms and lots of showers. You will find robes and slippers in your room. There is direct bus service (Alberg Express Bus) from the Zurich Airport to the hotel door or take the train. The train is one connection from the airport to the train station in St Anton. It is a short taxi ride from the station, or you can walk to the hotel
