Distant but good hotelThis hotel is located essentially in the middle of nowhere: the town of Portavaldera is 15 km north, and even the hamlet of Peccioli is some 2 km away (and uphill). But if you drive and intend to be in a place that distant, this accommodation is a good value. The hotel is attached to a huge sport complex, and hosts athlets doing training. Looking drab from outside, it is very nice and neat inside. Rooms are spacious, business-style (desk, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, no fridge). Twin beds possible. Parking is no problem (free, of course). The friendly and helpful staff speaks good English. There was a kind of emergency when electricity was shut down for about half-an-hour in the evening. The lady at the reception informed us in advance, and did her best to provide candles. Finally, we had a romantic evening with little trouble from the power interruption. The on-site restaurant looks quite good, although we did not have a chance to try it (fully booked because of the New Year Eve). The ample breakfast lacked hot meals that is typical for Italy. The only problem is a kind of mismatch between the location and price. 70 for a double in the very distant place is probably too much, at least in Italy. The surrounding area looks pretty, but it is better suited for sports rather than hiking. The hotel sits in the very flat valley, while the picturesque hills are some km away.

Always welcomeWe have stayed at this hotel quite regularly over the last 10 years as we own a property in the area so if we have builders/plumbers working we stay here to monitor progress. The staff are always helpful, the rooms are simple but always very clean & air conditioned. If you want a reliable, clean & friendly place to stay you will not do better in this area, but you will need a car! We stayed there 3 times this year, always a smile & nothing is too much problem. The english spoken is of a very high standard & they once even arranged a good plumber at short notice for me, gold dust!

very coldFrom the moment we arrived at the hotel, we had a bad feeling. In the end he turned out we were right. Hotel and staff were in place, very professional: But I Hotel is at a position where there is nothing. We arrive with a taxi. Maybe it was the time of our visit inappropriate for this time of year.Very cold, fog, bad time/ weatrher .

Only 1 lift works, rooms are average, breakfast is also averageThis hotel actually has 2 lifts but only one of them works. It would be good if they fix the other lift as when going with large groups it is a major inconvenience. Nothing great to mention about the rooms. Breakfast is just a limited fare but they have a small shop in case you want to buy something. Not a very impressive hotel to stay at.
