  Southern Platan needs separate chapter - just another hotel.

  Southern Platan is new hotel nicely located near Ekaterinas Park and Krasnaya str with all its restaurants and shops. Belongs to Platan Group but its a separate building basically having nothing to do with poor Platan Hotel. Friendly staff, big room with air con and flat TV. Bad was a bid odd. Big one but quite creaking like in the country house of your granny. B-fast is nice with all you need to keep running till your lunch. Room rate is a bit high but would stay again. Important remark, Internet access isn't free despite not expensive at all, 2,5 Euro per day. With such a room rate should be free IMHO.

  Stay away from this place

  This hotel is stuck in soviet times and has not moved on since. Staff are very un-friendly and look like they are going to kill you later on at night (they might turn into vampries midnight you never know). Room equipment is seriously outdated, despite hotels 4 star rating my beds linen had 4 holes in them like they were eaten by mice. Wallpaper is peeling off from the walls and furniture is like back from 60s. Restaraunt is probably the most horrible place. Waiters hate when someone comes over and they look like they want to slice you into pieces with kitchen knifes and then cook traditional gluash from you incestines. I've spent like a week on the toilet after taking a sample of the local cousine. Horrible place stay away ....

  Soviet hotel refreshed

  The only good point about this hotel is the central location, close to the main street Krasnaya str. Any other aspect is poor. First of all you have to be sure about which of the 3 Platan Hotel we are talking about: I booked Platan hotel (Postovaja str. 41). Close to it, there is Platan Yuzhniy (Southern) and just 200 meters away Platan Lux. Well, Platan Hotel is a typical Soviet time hotel, slightly refurbished, but still sad and depressing. The room is quite big, clean, but equipped with cheap furniture and bad taste. No table or desk/working station in the room. Bathroom is ok. Breakfast is really poor (the second day I even skipped it) and the restaurant is horrible, offering an average Russian selection. Staff is quite ok, but I dont think they speak English. No free Wi-fi but I found a free connection from outside the hotel. I will never come back again. A Hilton Garden Inn is expected to open during summer 2012: check it out.

  It can't get anymore Ussr era than this place!

  I swear you can still imagine the mass business metting of past soviet times as you walk down the ever long hallways to your room. The rooms have not changed much since then but the bed was clean and bathroom. I wouldn't pay top doller to stay here but overall the staff were polite and the breakfast had a great range. We had motorbikes and they have a staff member out the back watching our vehice's all night. The resturant across the road is value for money and there are two shops near by for grocery's.

  Good hotel with excellent place

  Hotel placed at excellent place. Staff is very friendly. Near hotel you can find Central Park, central street (Krasnoyarsk) and many caffe and restaurants. But. But in hotel very old rooms and interiors.
