  Interesting, comfortable hotel

  This was my second time staying at Plankl. The hotel is really 3 hotels in one and each has a slightly different 'feel'. My room was in the part of the hotel which has an 'eastern' theme. My room was a good size, with a large bathroom and a four-poster bed. The decor is not 'modern' but my room was clean, quiet and comfortable. There is a nice swimming pool in the basement, with sauna facilities and massages available for booking. Breakfast in the shared dining room was very good, with a wide selection of hot and cold options. I would be happy to recommend staying here again.

  Local hotel with its own character

  This is a comfortable local hotel with character . A number of the rooms have quirky features ranging from a 100 year old Madonna to a small sauna - all pilgrim needs catered for ! Very decent breakfast and its a popular place with locals and tourists . Its rooms are good 3 Starish quality and service is good .

  Hotel Wankl

  Where to start with this hotel, well. I visited on business in the height on a German heatwave. The hotel was full of tourist's and workers, therefore the owner refused to put the air-con on as it would be too expensive to run. Far from ideal when your laid in a room the size of a shoe box in 30 degree heat. The breakfast was also very hit and miss i.e cooked foods not being served on time and when your needing to be out of the hotel by 7:30am for work, going to work hungary was not much fun. I also dropped a glass in my room by accident one evening. After explaining this to the owner and how I was unable to clean up the glass correctly due to lack of cleaning facilities in my room. He then came up to my room and started pointing to every mark and strain on the wall and carpet from about a million years ago and demanded that I pay him 100 towards cleaning costs for what was already a very grubby room from god knows what previous guests. Aswell as cigarette ends being left on the balcony from what I can only assume was the cleaner smoking on the job, as I was the only guest in the room and a none smoker. The list goes on... Hotel Wankl Verdict :- Don't bother, Joseph Fritzl's B'n'B is only down the road and I dare say you'd have more of a pleasurable stay

  A true highlight

  Hotel Plankl was truly a highlight in itself during our stay in Altötting. Wonderful rooms (ours had a sauna) and delightful staff! Super breakfast, very priceworthy, we are eager to come back. The owner walked us through some historical aspects of his hotel, we are very appreciative of his kindness and hospitality. Thank you again!

  Decent rooms but...

  the staff was snippy most of the time. Not all of them, but you just dont feel welcome. The rooms were good in the higher price category, nice extras like sauna or a whirlpool. Breakfast I cannot Rate correctly since there were these special COVID-19 rules, but there was most of the usual to choose from. Nothing out of the ordinary but okay, maybe better when there is no corona virus. So Ill take that out of the rating. All in all I wouldnt go again, if you dont care for friendliness it is a decent hotel.
