Good hotel in perfect wintersport area

Good hotel with very nice staff. Management changed very recently. Most of staff is new and works very hard. You see them improving every day. Nice pool and sauna. Room good size and clean. Restaurant serves good food. First course from buffet and for main 3 choices changing every day. Choices between Austrian and Italian dishes.

    Average

This was the last stop on our town to town hike, the KAT walk. It was a bit of a let down. Though the room was quiet, it was a long way (up and down a staircase and down long hallways) from the reception. The hallways and the room's decor were dated and sterile but clean. There was a definite lack of charm. The bathroom was quite large and the shower excellent. My biggest disappointment was the breakfast. It was a picked-over, uninspiring buffet in a large impersonal room. The wait staff was also impersonal and not very helpful. Luckily, the previous night, a singer performed on the outdoor terrace and the service from the bar staff was very good. We did appreciate the welcome drink that was offered. A little more local character in the rooms and hallways as well as a varied, restocked breakfast with attentive waiters would go a long way to improve a stay here.

Bad value for money - at least during peak season

The best thing about the Pillerseehof is that it is located at the beautiful Pillersee (lake). The rooms are very small, not leaving much room for anything but the bed. Our room had an unpleasant musky smell. The bed was old and uninviting. The toilet/bathroom was new but a tiny box-like place like the kind you find in an Ibis hotel. The price for the room (end August) was a whopping EUR 140. Breakfast was not even included and cost another EUR 12.50 per person. The spread was so so, the quality too, the presentation can't-be-bothered, which was pretty much our impression of the whole establishment. There are much better family-run options in the area, which even cost less.

    Not great

Small, outdated rooms. Not proper pillows on beds leaving us with crippled necks. Severely understaffed. Horrific food. Didnt put any water on tables for the first 4 nights so had no choice but to pay almost 5 a bottle

    Just awful!

Staying here at the moment. Last minute ski trip with my three sons. Hotel room adequate if you want a sofa bed as an option (wasn't told that). Faulty heating in the room - even though I have complained three days on the trot. Radiators on so low they can't even dry out ski gloves! No hot water last night for the whole hotel and don't even get me started on the food. Had to visit the supermarket over the road to feed the kids snacks as the food in the restaurant is just dreadful - and they are not fussy eaters. I've had soup and bread for two nights as the alternative wasn't palatable. Heard it use to be great until the new management took over and now it's all about reducing the overheads. What a shame. Great location. Great skiing.
