Nowhere landOn our way back from Croatia to Venice airport we stayed over for one night at the Hotel Pigalle at Jesolo. What a place - the surroundings were without characteristics- you could not tell were on the planet earth you were. The Main Street filled up with shops selling the same sort of crab, and restaurants side by side selling fast food. The area is totally without soul. Where were Italy in all this - you could not tell. Its horrible! The Hotel Pigalle fits in the neighborhood nicely. Its totally without charm - but actually a bit scary. Or we are getting too old for this level. The room was equipped with low-cost furniture. And the cost of around a 90 is way over what it should have been. BUT - the room was clean and for that the Hotel Pigalle gets 2 stars. Birgitta and Flemming

Just for a nightWe booked the Pigalle in search of a cheap place to stay before visiting Venice. At roughly $85.00 it was the cheapest place. The hotel is a block behind the beach. The reception issued us 2 tickets for our own sun bed and umbrella at the beach - we checked the beach and found it to be very interesting - there are literally thousands of umbrellas and beds over kilometers of beach. We booked an Economy Twin room - the smallest room we have ever had in a Hotel - two single beds and just the absolute minimum space to move around. The bathroom was nice and well working, the furniture old and the carpets dirty as throughout the hotel. Big plus - the room had a great terrace, at least twice the size of the room. The big glass door to the terrace could not be locked - we kept the heavy outside shades closed instead. Breakfast is served at the next door hotel Bettina from 7:30 AM on - its an okay breakfast - without much commitment to please guests. Both hotels are operations riding on the demand for Jesolo - management seems to be happy with the status quo and have no dedication to quality tourism. The best thing about the hotel is the front desk staff - the ladies are very friendly and professional.

Pleasant three star hotelWe were 6 nights in this hotel, and our room was comfortable and clean, just the bed was little noisy. The staff was kind and helpfull. We had half board, and we had to go to the neighboring hotel, but it was ok. Breakfast was buffet, dinner was daily menu with Italian food, nice and delicious. No pool ind this hotel, but the beach is very close, and we got hotel card to use sunbed and unbrella combo for free. It was enjoyable. Lot of souvenir shop and supermarket are around. It is a good place to organize excursions in the area, like Venice, Murano, Burano, etc..

Couldn't fault the hotel or their staff - great valueI travelled to Lido di Jesolo for the European Masters Athletics Championships and, being unable to take my wife and son along due to their school committments, looked for a simple room with certain handy amenities, all of which Hotel Pigalle delivered in style. As my stay included 'half board - breakfast and dinner' - it was always likely to be good value for money but it turned out to be GREAT value. My single room was actually bigger than expected / the pictures indicated. Everything was absolutley spotlessly clean and mostly very new. The balcony I had was even bigger than the room, which itself, as said, was a more than adequate size, and included a table, chair and reclining sun-bed. The bathroom was a good size too with a big, powerful and very controlable shower. A big wardrobe with excellent drawers, a nice sized work desk and multipe power sockets (although the standard and safety of Italian sockets still leaves a lot to be desired but that's a national thing ansd nothing specific to this hotel. The small fridge was reallty handy, especially as i drink a lot as a runner and when I asked in advance, whether the room had a kettle, they e-mailed back to say "ask reception and they will provide one." I did and they did - a brand new one which had never been used before. Take or get your own coffee and tea, etc though. The staff on reception were very happy and helpful and, very multilingral (even Russian spoken). They offer the best value return tickets across to Venice, with no extra charge to you on top of what this company (El Doge) charge at the port (Punto Sabbioni). The location is right up the western end of the string of hotels which line the beach road and the one behind it and they offer free sun-loungers, parasols, etc on their own patch of the beach. Free bicycle borrowing is available and the bikes, to my pelasant surprise, were well maintained with new tyres and sizeable baskets on the front. I enjoyed taking gentle rides around the area and, although I got a puncture on one occasion, it was repaied within hours of me taking the bike back to the hotel. The are ATM machines locally but the ones associated with shops seem to charge varying rates of commission so I'd advise to use ones at banks in the centre of town when convenient. Breakfast and dinner are taen at the Hotel Bettina next door and both have excellent choice, albeit it doesn't vary very much. The quality is good and the waiting staff are happy and helpful. A mention also to the room maids. I had a small accident which meant that I struggled to keep little bits of blood from the bed-sheets for a couple of days. I was very apologetic and they were superb in the maintenance and cleanlinees of the room. Really enjoyed my stay and would certainly look no further if I was able to return to the area. Thanks. One final point - the flat screen TV was, unusually for less expensive hotels, perfectly tuned in with stations in several languages, although onlt three I could find in English and two of those were world-wide news stations.
