  A bit soviet old school, but in a good way

  This hotel has the best location close to shops, bars, the concert hall, river and museum centre. I've stayed in different hotels in Krasnoyarsk and would recommend this to all tourists. Comfortable rooms, good service, good breakfast (choose between a number of set menus) served all day long (good for those coming here from Asia or Moscow). This hotel is not fancy, but clean, comfortable and friendly.

  11 night stay in Krasnoyarsk

  I stayed at the Oktyarbskaya hotel for 11 nights in October 2016. The hotel is right in the centre of the city, close to plenty of shops, restaurants and takeaways. It's in a great location for exploring the city and this is one of the hotels strongest selling points. The room we stayed in was large and comfortable. The interior was a little outdated but rather charming in it's own way. Some of the reception staff speak English and they were pretty helpful. I would highly recommend the hotel to those looking for a hotel in the centre of the city.

  Great hotel in downtown Krasnoyarsk

  Hotel Oktyabrskaya is a great base for exploring Krasnoyarsk. Located in the main street it is just minutes away from beautiful historical architecture and cool bars and restaurants. The bridge taking you to a gorgeous island is 10 minutes away. Our room was spacious and clean, with great views. There was a mistake with our booking and to compensate they let us wash our clothes for free. Breakfast was delicious!!!

  Location, location, location.

  On arrival, I thought this hotel and the area look unremarkable and I asked the receptionist "where can I go to discover restaurants and bars" when she replied "right around here" which I found unbelievable, but I'm delighted to be proved wrong. My air conditioned room was renovated recently and although small, it's easily adequate. The hotel restaurant is an excellent Italian style venue but I've travelled too far for a pizza, however the Italian influence on the buffet breakfast was great. The location of this hotel simply doesn't seem glitzy or commercialized enough as the commercial center for a fairly affluent city of around a million people. However, I set off on my research and quickly stumbled upon a very well furbished Irish pub and across the road a popular coffee shop / restaurant with modern food and then a basement establishment titled 'Yoga-bar' which isn't a bar and there's no yoga classes but they serve fantastic vegetarian food and then I found a modern supermarket ; which I happen to find interesting. In the opposite direction there's a enormous and very popular Estonian / Georgian / Turkish restaurant serving stunning dishes with an underflow which is an overflow into the basement of the building next door and then just a little further along the road, a comfortable little cocktail bar. I also ventured further into a area peppered with eating and drinking venues on 'maps' but this is a comparatively jaded and tired area where the boys in the parks pass the bottle and I felt watched. I was glad to return to the area I felt most safe.

  Something I don't want to experience again

  Great location but after the shower leaked onto the floor and into my toiletries bag and I wiped up the mess with one of their towels they charged me for "ruining" their towel. Best of all they kept the towel at the front desk in order to humiliate me with my "bad guest behaviour" in front of any other hotels guests in the lobby at the time. Heaven help any human who dirtied their towels in an other way......
