Parking gratuito exterior.

    Great location and lovely hotel

We stayed at Naturwald for four nights whilst skiing in Furano. The location is very convenient - its not actual ski-in ski-out but you only have to cross a road and youre at the chair lift (and I dont think anywhere in Furano is true ski in ski out). We got discounted lift passes each day from reception and collected them at the small ticket office by the chair lift. Breakfast was good each morning - a wide variety of options including many Japanese options but also enough for clueless Europeans (us) to have a good breakfast. We had cereal, mini pastries, omelettes and ramen - all were great. We also got a free visit to the dessert buffet which was a nice touch. The highlight was a chocolate fountain and soft serve ice cream machine. You can also help yourself each night to face masks and cooling patches (among other things) for your muscles which was nice. There were a variety of free snacks in the evenings as well from about 3pm. In terms of the room, the shower was powerful and we always had hot water. There was limited storage space but we had plenty of space on the floor to open ski bags and suitcases and there was a bit of hanging space. The main issue we had was the beds, they werent overly comfy and caused a few achey backs in our group. Ski lockers were helpful and always very warm - we found if we stored our boots up high in the locker they were kept really warm and dried out well. The 7-11 is a 10 minute walk and there were also good restaurants nearby. The hotel was relatively pricey compared to our nights in Niseko, but they do throw in a lot of freebies and breakfast. As above - main reason for not giving 5 stars is the beds!

Great place to stay for skiing

We loved staying at Naturwald- as far as the hotel went. The staff are so helpful and kind. The restaurant staff are wonderful, the chefs excellent, as a vegetarian I found plenty of delicious food at dinners as well as breakfast. Best breakfast ever in Japan (this is our 3rd trip). The Supreame spa is world class- Ive been to spas In some of The worlds top hotels and I couldnt fault this lady. The back massage is to die for! And very well priced! The onsen is excellent- 2 Onsens inside and one outside in the snow (3 each for men and women). Absolute heaven!!!!! Very well maintained. The library for reading in was great. The large warm foyer and little shop with gifts and snacks. We had a childrens playroom near us and I loved seeing the cute little Japanese children with their parents. So well behaved too- a credit to Japanese parenting! Heres the reason I couldnt give more points though. The beds are as hard as rocks. My husband and I got back aches. To be honest, weve found the same in all Japanese ski hotels, but in others we had spare foam mattresses for floor beds which we put in our own beds so we could cope. This room had no spare mattresses and it really made us miserable. Also, the room got too hot despite turning off the air conditioning all the time, so we woke with headaches each day from lack of air in the room. Till on the last day, we opened the window and that was good (if a bit cool! At -10 degrees!) If Naturwald would just get proper Western softness beds and A/C that works in the rooms, this would have been perfect! The ski area is awesome, so close to the hotel. We could look out the window to see if the chairlifts were open yet across the road before venturing out. So good!

Great location in front of Kitanomine ski slope.

You can virtually walk over to the ski slope at ease. Breakfast is superb with wide spread of hot and cold food for all guests. Tea time snacks and dinner dessert buffet are available for free. Room is comfortable and not too small for couples with ski gear, although ski lockers are provided by hotel. Staff courtesy and helpfulness are given, as expected of most Japanese hotels. My wife and I enjoyed our 7 nights stay at Naturwald, although the beds are bit soft.

Absolutely deserving of the top spot

I'm completely blown away by this place. Given the current travel situation, they'd be forgiven for withdrawing a lot of the bells and whistles they offer, but from what I can tell it's all still there. I'm currently living in Japan and not being of Japanese origin I'm used to getting looked at quizzically and not being able to communicate very well (due to my lack of Japanese which is completely my fault). This hotel has plenty of English speakers who were so helpful, including in checking me in and also explaining the dinner situation. There's SO many freebies - you can pick 5 toiletries per day on check in (the essentials are already in your room, these are extras like face masks etc) and they have a free snack corner with loads of different foods and drinks including the cute marshmallow grilling area. The dinner buffet is huge with loads of different options for pretty much any preference, though of course it's seafood heavy. Some highlights were the seafood you can grill yourself at your table, the freshly fried tempura and the super fresh tuna rib. I haven't had breakfast yet because I couldn't wait to write this review, but I'm sure it'll be just as spectacular. I didn't check out the onsen but I believe there's even more freebies to be had there! There were also tons of activities for little kids like dress up etc. I'm just sad that I didn't have a sighting of the hotel's mascots!
