Disappointing visit due to 'Charcoal Meals'. Fix your evening kitchen staff!!!!CONS Considering the stark contrast between last December and our recent visit in August, I have to ask 'How did the evening food standards deteriorate so badly?' We stayed for three nights, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday on the first August weekend. Sunday night was a 'grill night' for motorsport fans - for which we paid a surcharge?! After a long wait, while enjoying the view over the city my appetite was certainly ready for their smoked salmon on offer. When it arrived I noticed it was slightly seared on top, even though barbecue (grill) smoked fish should not come into contact with the heat source. Undeterred I cut into the fish and started to eat it. It seemed a little dry but otherwise alright. Then I got to the skin at the bottom which was totally adhered to the lower level of the salmon. It was burned to charcoal. Too late to return it to the kitchen I cut off the charred bits and just alerted our waiter that the 'chef' was burning the salmon. His response was to compensate by giving my wife a free dessert. But there was no promise to fix the basic problem - their smoking technique! He was lucky a food inspector wasn't present to try their 'specials'! Anyway, I consider one cooking error doesn't mean the hotel food is all bad. On this occasion, that attitude let me down. On Monday night I decided not to challenge the chef's culinary skills. So I ordered a humble hamburger with salad. It arrived with all the edges burnt to a crisp! I refused the meal. Photos attached. Until the owner gets his kitchen staff in order we won't be eating there again. P.S. I still regard the hotel itself highly, even though for some reason I didn't get my reserved parking spot on this visit. PROS As Brno becomes more and more cluttered we have always enjoyed this hotel with its forest location above the city. The views from the terrace are sensational. We have taken many of our Global Tours groups there in May and September - deliberately touring outside of the sweltering summer months. More recently we have been there to rest up overnight at Hotel Myslivna before continuing to Vienna. The food has been of a high standard both at breakfast and in the evening when we have dined there previously. The included buffet breakfast still is superb. We found the front-of-house staff maintained a high standard and during our early August visit we avoided the hot rooms by booking one of the few air-conditioned rooms available.

Its alrightThe hotel is okay to spend a night or 2. The city is like 5kms away from the hotel,u can take taxi or even go by yourself. The wifi was good, restaurant okay and not expensive. Rooms are average. Im not dissapointed at all. Recommended for a quick stay.

WILL NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL AGAIN!The hotel is old. The lift, rooms,TV and so on are ancient - out dated for decades. Bath towels have holes, Some showers are not working. No air-conditioning. If you open windows to get sine cool air, big mosquitoes will come in. You will have little choice but sleep in discomfort. Rooms, halls, reception area all have musty smell. Many areas in the hotel have cigarette smell. Bedroom walls have cracks. Door frames are held up by putty filling. Staff are rude and curt. Services are slow. Food rationing at breakfast without prior warning! Each person is only allowed to have half of a fruit. Food are limited, If you come late for breakfast, you will be starved. Our whole group of 17 travellers feel disgusted and give this hotel and its restaurant.a "terrible" rating.

Hotel is old but rooms are great+ Very clean, cozy rooms ; + Friendly staff ; + Comfortable bed ; + Good breakfast ; - Wifi was really slow ; - Design of hotel is so old, it reminds me Eastern Europe ; - Lift is horrible. But still, I recommend it because of rooms and breakfast. It's great place for a one or few nights.
