Comfortable and quietNice hotel but not sure what makes it a 4star. If you like a lot of dark wood this is the place for you. Staff were very helpful and a good breakfast was served with very good coffee and fresh fruit juice.

Nice and convenientHotel Muzaka is a small boutique with only 10 rooms in an old, traditional, but renovated building. It is an easy 5 minutes walking to old town, just across the scenic Gorica bridge. Upon arrival we got an upgrade to suite 7, which was a bonus because it gave us more space with an anteroom to store our luggage. The room was, like the hotel, in the traditional style and spacious. We had a large comfy bed, timber floors and the windows overlooked the town center across the river with the castle. The bathroom was rather small and not modern, with a boxy type shower ; but adequate. Breakfast was a small buffet, not a big spread, but what they offered was good, fresh quality food : delicious bread (hard & crusty, to die for), freshly squeezed OJ !, nice cappuccino. My only recommendation would be to play different background-music in the morning . . . nothing beats some tranquil classic or pleasant lounge music just after waking up, instead of thumping pop hits. Overall, a very pleasant stay in a very special place.

Nice Location, Small but Adequate RoomWe were in Room 9. It was cramped with beds close to each wall; outlets for charging were near floor in entryway and close to the wall at backside of the bed. There is a shelf in the closet for your underwear; just a few misshapen hangars in the closet. Tiny shelf in bathroom for toiletries but the rest can be on top shelf of the closet. The lighting was mediocre, no safe, stairs only but not steep. The positive aspects: hot water, adequate towels, friendly and helpful staff; willing to bring coffee or tea to you at 7 a.m. each morning. The breakfast was adequate, being a small buffet.

Fantastic locationWe received a friendly greeting from the waiter who showed us to a table on the terrace down by the River Osum. We shared a carafe of very good local wine while we watched the sun go down. A very pleasant interlude between a hard day's sight-seeing and dinner.

Bent over backwardsThis is a really nice hotel but we had a special need. We were trying to make contact with some friends who live in a town about an hour away from Berat and our cell phone refused to send an email or call. I went to the check in desk and the man on duty offered to let me use the computor there. He said to give them the hotel's phone no. and he would be alert for a call. Sure enough our friends got the call and drove over that evening and we had a wonderful dinner with them in the hotel dining room. I couldn't believe getting such personal attention.
