Bed Bugs - Stay Away!I was put up at the Hotel Continental Centreville by my employer. As I pulled up to the parking lot behind the building around 10pm on a Sunday in July, I noticed a small group of intoxicated men loitering there. Right from the start I was put off by this place. I did not feel really comfortable leaving my car there, and just wanted to get in the building as fast as possible. I've travelled all over the world and rarely do I ever feel this way. As soon as my partner and I tried to check in there were issues. The front desk had not gotten our reservation which had been booked online. By the time my boss called the front desk to work out the glitch I was able to read the Trip Advisor reviews of this place. As soon as I saw the one about bed bugs I was skeptical. Nonetheless, we still decided to check it out and give it a chance as the hotel had recently been partially renovated. My partner and I luckily were given a newly renovated room. It looked nice and I was partially relieved, but I insisted we still check the mattress just to be cautious as I do not want to bring bed bugs home. First off, the mattress was wrapped in so many layers that prevented us from actually getting to it. That was already a sign that something was probably not right. Once we were able to get these layers off, we noticed a bunch of spots covering the mattress and were so grossed out. After having driven more than 10 hours that day I thought maybe we were being paranoid or acting a little crazy, but at the same time I did not want to risk it, and so I decided to confront the clerk at the front desk about it, and see if he'd be willing to reimburse us if we left as the room had already been pre-paid. The clerk insisted they didn't have bed bugs (but then again who would ever admit to it...) and assured me that the hotel didn't have a history of ever having them. I then informed him that that was odd as I had just checked the mattress and it was full of spots, and that I had read a review on Trip Advisor that suggested otherwise. All in all he was very understanding and informed me that the reimbursement had to be granted through the website from which the booking was done, which makes sense. As I go back to inform my partner of this, and as we try and figure out what to do, he decides to lift the mattress, and to our surprise we find this bug trap! We were both so disgusted, and felt like we had literally just been lied to by the clerk. It is highly possible that the clerk is not aware of these traps being planted under mattresses, who knows, but at the same time whoever is running this hotel should feel ashamed of taking people's money to sleep in bug infested beds! I managed to snag a picture of this trap just to post it on here to warn other travellers of this place. As I left the hotel to check into another one, I decided to call a friend of mine who works as a GM for a big hotel chain in Montreal to see if this was normal practice, as I thought maybe it was used as a preventive measure. He informed me that it wasn't, and that I did good by leaving. As we checked into our new hotel we went to check the bed right away, and found that the mattress was not wrapped in so many layers. It just had a regular set of sheets, and there were no bug traps under the mattress! I decided to write this review as I believe other travellers have a right to know about the condition of this place. That was my experience, I did not want to risk being exposed to bed bugs, and if i would have known of the condition of this mattress prior to checking in I wouldn't have even walked into this establishment. It is such a shame that they spent money on renovating this place, yet seems like they recycled the old mattresses, that are stained with blood, and probably infested with bed bugs.

Bad InternetThe worst internet in any hotel I have ever stayed at. The breakfast buffet was standard. The rooms are good (newly renovated), small TVs. Good location within walking distance of many places in the town. Request not to have a room facing the back alley.

An old and beautiful Hotel!A good place to stay, in a very cosy little town. Located on a central street, with some typical shops and a very nice Italian restaurant within walking distance, across the street. Breakfast traditional but plentiful and well served.

TravellerRestaurant staff were not offering the best service comparing to my previous visits. They usually offer a good service, but unfortunately, I felt I was not welcome on my last visit. The waitress did not even greet us, and she was being very rude.
