Nice and clean hotel close to harbour and city centerNice hotel, close to harbour and city center. Pretty breakfast room and a good choice of bread, cheese, sausages and juices. Friendly, uncomplicated personal at the reception and bar. Mini bar was empty, maybe because of end season. In a few minutes you get to the harbour and to the citadel. Hotel has acces to inside pool.

Good night sleep in pretty Calvi.Clean, comfortable, quiet hotel in the centre of Calvi within easy access to the sights, all the shops and restaurants. Easy parking and the staff is helpful and pleasant. Cant fault it. Good price too.

Amazing swimming pool area but surly staffWe arrived and had a very basic conversation with the staff member on reception- just a 'hello' , do you have a reservation, here is your key'. We headed for our room but on approaching the corridor where our room was we saw someone sitting on the floor talking on a mobile phone - when she saw us she got up swiftly and opened a door that happened to be opposite our room, this was the staff room and filled with cleaning equipment. Our bedroom. was slightly disappointing in that it had a poor view of the sea and mountains , and along with the thought of staff sitting leaning outside our door chatting on their phones and maybe noise in the early hours of the staff cleaning trolleys I decided to ask for an alternate room. I approached reception, and due to the fact I had only had a short, broken french conversation with the lady there on arrival I first asked her if she could speak english. I am not sure if this upset her but the conversation went downhill from there. I didnt want to get the staff in the corridor in trouble so I just asked if there was another room we could look at , maybe with a better view. Bearing in mind that I booked the room directly with the hotel because their website guaranteed a free upgrade, if available on arrival, when the receptionist told me there were no other rooms available I asked if there was an upgrade available. She said there wasnt. I said that I found it hard to believe they didnt have even one alternative room for me to look at due to it being October . The conversation then headed downhill fast with her saying she'd told me 3 times that there was absolutely no other room free. Then she said I should have paid more money for a sea view room if I wanted a better view. Then she revealed that they had already apparantly upgraded me from the room I had booked (It would have been helpful if they'd told me this on arrival and then maybe I would have been more accepting of the room I was given, knowing that it could have been not as good). So, back to the room. It was fine, had a balcony. We actually didnt hear the maids making noise - despite the fact that a notice we saw said that the maids worked from 3am in the morning ! The receptionist wouldnt make eye contact with us for the rest of the holiday and even when I said Good Morning (in french of course) she looked away. This was the first person we'd met in 5 days on Corsica, having already stayed in 2 different hotels, who was very surly. We didnt take breakfast at the hotel because theres a lovely bakery literally next door. Its a short walk downhill to the harbour and beachfront train station and a few minutes more to the beautiful Calvi beach. The pool area of the hotel is phenominal but we discovered that the bar on the pool deck closes in September. Also, on the day we left there was a notice in the lift stating that the pool would be closing on October 19th - we didnt know if that was just for one day or that it was closing for the winter. But I'm sure that I'd read, when booking, that the pool was open until the end of October. Therefore we couldnt have use of it on our last morning there. Also, the sauna wasn't on when we went to use it the day before. There wasn't a hairdryer in the room either but I asked for one and was given one straight away When we left the hotel there was a different receptionist and I dont know if the receptionist I'd had the disagreable conversation with had said something to him but he was very dismissive with us when we handed our key back and paid our tax. So, the hotel is nice enough, the pool area is outstanding, its in a good position but we were not welcomed warmly upon arrival including not being initially advised on arrival of our room upgrade. Therefore this made it feel unfriendly.
