Stayed here as part of Cox n Kings Ladakh packaged tour

We had travelled to Ladakh as part of the Cox and Kings packaged tour and were disappointed with the experience. Hotel is very average. Food repetitive. Behaviour of most of the staff was good. Far from Leh Market. Good view of Shanti Stupa Tour managers of Cox and Kings - they were absolutely terrible. Please avoid Cox n Kings for Ladakh

    Mahay Palace or Nahin Milega?

It is very true that one should not choose hotels by just looking at the photographs put up on the website and we asked our agency to book us in here when we took a package tour with them to Leh this past week. We were really tired and hungry, not to mention oxygen deprived when we arrived early morning 15th June. At best, any hotel welcomes its customers with a hello and a smile. However, we were met by this rough and rude man, who we later discovered doubled up as a cook. Most staff in the hotels at Leh are recruited for 4 months, during peak tourist season and are not trained hotel personnel. The 5-6 persons in this hotel were such ones brought in from UP. Being the leader of the group, I was asked how many rooms and keys were handed out. After this we were instructed to go to our rooms and sleep all day as no activities are permitted on the first day as all visitors are supposed to acclimatize to the high altitude place. Fair enough, we asked what about breakfast and we were curtly informed "Nahin Milega"! In the next few days that we were there, every request we made got the same response. Only after rubbing it in that we have to pay for it, did we get something. Meals were to be provided according to our agreement. Breakfast was meagre, but passable. Since some of us could not eat the life saving eggs due to allergy, we had to manage with dry rotis and fire toasted bread with butter and Jam. The tea which was good, helped get everything down Lunch and dinner, we discovered comprised mostly of half cooked rice, burnt rotis, dal, vegetable and salad of some sort. We got non-vegetarian twice in the week we were there. The food was just average. The rooms are large and well furnished for a home stay, however, housekeeping is wanting. Most of the time I ended up doing the cleaning myself as there was always dust around, the toilets could do with an upgrade and clean buckets and a door mat at the entrance to the bedroom would definitely be welcome, considering the water after a shower does not always drain out well. Unfortunately we did not get to meet the owner of the hotel and speak to him about the problems. On the last evening when clearing our bills, we discovered we were being charged for drinking water. The hotel does not have a water filtration system, nor is the standard flask or bottle of water provided in the rooms. On the first day we were informed that one bottle of water per person per day would be provided free of cost. Now suddenly we were being charged for 66 bottles of water as it seems the tour operator had changed his mind about providing us any drinking water. Now this is against the norms for even the smallest guest house in a remote part of the country. India

    Worse hotel i visited ever

This is the worse hotel i have visited ever. Leakage toilet seat , broken glass of bathroom window, crouton of room were very dirty. For breakfast they are charging approx 500 rs but serving only dry sandwich and Tea. No Intercom in rooms , each time you need to go the the reception even you want to have a water bottle. rooms were very dirty.. No jet spray with toilet sheet need to use mugs. Staff members are very rude and arrogant, they don't bother about your trouble..
