old bundeshotel, old accomodation, bad food, nice locationOld hotel, nice lobby and bar. breakfast buffet was very basic and every day the same. Diner buffet was poor in quantity and quality. Only 5 plates to chose from as main dich. Vegetables always the same and very standard. Deesert only one choice. Soup poor quality. Never had such a bad quality in food as in this hotel. Environment is nice, lots of biking and walking possibilities. We will come back to this region, but surtenly not in this hotel.

3 very nice days....Stayed for three nights at the hotel. We stayed in the front of the hotel, everything was new. Clean and just great. The whole front from the reception to the street looks like its all been renewed. The swimming pool also and the saunas. Not everything by the saunas and swimming pool were finished but it was all good. The eating was OK, what you expect for an all-in trip. A great bar with in the evening to night free drinks. The fireplace was also great. We expected much less for the price but found everything just fine. I think later they will rebuild the back side of the hotel, and also later the restaurant across the street. Had a great time there and will surely go back!

friendly personnels & good dinnerThe room we stayed is next to the main road, so it is quite noisy due to the traffic in the morning. Luckily traffic is not so busy as in a big city. Shower space is small with curtains only, water is hot enough. TV programs are mostly Dutch channels because there are many Dutch guests. The bar area is relaxing with a large TV. Restaurant on the opposite side provides breakfast buffet and dinner which changes daily. A 4-courses dinner with good quality. The staffs are polite and friendly. Lots of parking space around the restaurant. Mayschoss town is also a good starting point to travel in the Ahr valley.

Not as good as village B&BThis used to be a wonderful hotel and they still have coasters proudly boasting Grand Hotel Lochmuhle. It is very sad how it has sunk so low that it hardly deserves comparison with a village B&B. When we booked the web site described the rooms and facilities, mini bar, international TV and a balcony. All this is omitted from the new website, and no wonder. The only true part was the balcony with wooden rails that had not been painted in years. I last visited the hotel 20 years ago and a friend suggested it would be a wonderful place to celebrate his wifes birthday, as they had been frequent visitors years ago. We arrived first and were given the key to our Comfort Room tired décor and an odd impressionist painting of a woman holding a nipple between her fingers greeted us. We tried to change, but nothing doing. The receptionist was, to put it kindly, surly. When I reported that there was no minibar I was told Thats the old web site in response to my report that there were no glasses in the room I was told People dont drink water in rooms and if we had to there were plastic mugs in the room. To my request for an ice bucket and glasses so we could greet our friends with a glass of Champagne I was told, We do not allow drinking in our rooms so ask the bar-keep. (sic). Maybe its the new way, American English and Soviet service. My wife asked the barkeep who said we could buy glasses of wine and he would not stop us taking them to our rooms. My wifes suggestion of buying a bottle, taking the glasses and him drinking the wine was refused. The Television, described when we booked as International had Dutch and German channels only. Breakfast, very poor by German standards, was served across the street and I hate to think what its like in the rain. The over bath shower was cramped as was the bathroom and only on request was a shower mat produced. We were informed that Dinner was a buffet as the cook was ill. We turned left out of the Hotel, walked a few hundred metres up the hill and found a wonderful Gast House with a terrace restaurant and .. splendid staff who obviously enjoyed their work. This hotel is not cheap by German standards and what it has become is little short of tragic. If a building could speak Lochmuhle would not be able to. It would be sobbing inconsolably.
