    Close to the station. Quiet

This is an interesting hotel because all of the rooms are on a single floor -- the 6th floor of a rather expansive building that could hold a multi-floor department store, but appears to still be unused except for the 1st and 6th floors. The rooms are spread out along a maze of corridors, with light wells in the middle of each cluster. They have individual, laminated maps for each room to guide you to your door! The room was quiet and the breakfast adequate. They even had one non-breakfast-like dish each morning such as a stew or fried noodles (yaki-soba). The toilet was the typical pre-fab type with a single set of faucets for both the sink and shower. (See attached photo.) There was WiFi only in one section of the hotel. Ask when you check in.

    Hotel in re-purposed office space

This hotel is within easy walking distance of Hamamatsu station and is located on the top floor of what otherwise appears to be an office building. I received the laminated map mentioned by another contributor and worried at first glance that my room, appearing to be in the center of the 6th floor, would have no window; however, the rooms are constructed in blocks around little outdoor courtyards, so all rooms appear to have windows that open to the outside. The downside to that is that all the windows are relatively near each other so it is likely that you'll hear (as I did) other hotel guests' late night activities! Other than that, though, the hotel was very quiet. Nevertheless, the room was very clean and new. The unit bath was spotless, and it had the usual business hotel amenities such as toothbrush, soap and shampoo. The room my daughter and I shared was exceptionally large by Japanese business hotel standards, and even had a sofa, two chairs and a table. It did NOT, however, have a shred of character. No decor whatsoever - not a single picture on the wall or even an interesting design on the bed cover. That is something that management should consider... Breakfast was ok - an effort was made to provide some variety on the two mornings I ate in the dining area, and there were a variety of drinks as well. It was nice not to have to go out somewhere (even though there were at least two coffee shops within a block of the hotel). It's a good choice for somewhere close to the station, but I do suggest caution when it comes to leaving valuables in the room. Nothing of mine went missing, but I noticed that it is housekeeping's habit to leave a number of doors wide open during morning cleaning time, even if the rooms are still occupied by guests who are just out for the day.

    Unprofessional and amateur service

I've stayed at Century Inn for 6 weeks during which I moved rooms more than 6 times!!! The reception staff lack basic professionalism . When the receptionist found out I was a psychiatrist working in a local hospital they wanted to tell me everything about her previous abusive relationship. I found this inappropriate. I complained to the manager about their unprofessionalism but I think that he handled it in an amateur like way. Otherwise rooms are clean and comfortable and food is excellent but overpriced. Coffee is of average quality and it's better to pop downtown for good espresso. Probably will not stay there again.

    Good B&B

Stone's throw from Hamamatsu Station this occupies the 6th floor of Kaji Pla. Rooms are small with a single bed and attached bath. The location is great. Restaurants of all sorts are available in the lane adjacent to the B&B. Good spread of breakfast and enough vending machines for grab and go. Very helpful front desk. It is not a hotel but a B&B. As a bead and breakfast this is very good for the price.
