    A room with a view

I stayed here for 6 nights. The location is very central and convenient. The room was on the 3rd floor, calm and quiet, with a view of the sea over the roof of the house opposite, The bed was very comfortable, the en-suite shower room had everything needed. Breakfasts were excellent - apart from the choice of home-made jams, there were great croissants and pain au chocolat. I also ate once in the restaurant, again a good experience, from the smoked filet mignon as an appetiser to the home-made ice cream.

    Comfortable Hotel, Great Restaurant

Visited Roscoff for a weekend on an offer from Brittany Ferries. Stayed at the Logis les Chardons Bleus which is conveniently located in the centre of the town very close to the harbour, the cafes and the restaurants. The hotel is very comfortable and the room was clean and well furnished. However the one amenity that is missing in the room are tea and coffee facilities for preparing hot drinks. Also having a room allocated on the third floor is not helpful if elderly as there is no lift! Based on a recommendation decided to eat in the restaurant and was not disappointed. Many choices of entrees, mains and desserts available and some all in fixed prices. Food was well prepared and delicious with good service. Definitely recommended and will stay there again during future visits to Roscoff.

    Fantastic

We stayed here the day before we caught the ferry from Roscoff ,it was a perfect base.Check in was simple and our room was very clean and comfortable and great value for money. The best thing about our stay was dinner,we ate in their restaurant and I must say it was one of the finest simply cooked meals Ive ever had.I had oysters to start and my wife had soup we then had mussels and fish for mains and a chocolate soufflé and the obligatory creme brûlée for sweet all washed down with a fine bottle of rose wine.We finished with a coffee. Breakfast was very nice to with the usual bread and croissants accompanied with home made jam and local honey and very good coffee. We will definitely call again.

    Main Street cafe

We were trying to kill time waiting for our ferry which went 8 hours from this lunch time.. We had a light lunch of Moules Mariniere and my partner Moule Roquefor, both with the inevitable chips. The mussels were very small but there were plenty of them, both with tasty sauces. this plus two beers and two coffee for a total of 40. Good cheerful service and for us a good time filler. Total cost 40

Dinner in the restaurant - Great food - but poor welcome.

Dined here prior to taking the ferry. We telephoned repeatedly for 2 days to book a table and only succeeded at 6 pm on the actual day. We arrived at the time appointed and walked into the restaurant and the welcome could hardly have been called warm. Our waitress never cracked a smile nor made eye contact during the course of the whole evening and the patron could not bring himself to smile either. We have eaten here before and knew the food to be good so persevered. We chose off the 22 menu although there were other more and less expensive options. For starters, one of us had prawns sautéed in garlic and the other crab and leek gratin. Both were delicious, particularly the crab dish! For mains, one had a scallops with ceps and the other veal with mushrooms. Again both were outstanding. We passed on puddings. We drank a bottle of excellent Provençal rose. The quality of the meal was completely at odds with the surly service - I know well that France is not noted for the warmth of its service but by any standards this was extreme. We eventually asked the patron what was amiss. It transpired that the chef and the waitress had walked out and his daughter had been dragooned into waitressing. Someone forgot tell her to smile! Not sure who cooked but they did a superb job. I find it difficult to rate this meal - from the food perspective it was excellent but the welcome and service left much to be desired. Running a restaurant is difficult and demanding however imo what happens behind the scenes should not impact the customers. For this reason I have awarded the meal 4 not 5. I am sure the staffing difficulties will be resolved in time and the rating will revert to 5 !
