Stylish RoomsMuch effort had gone into the ambience and decor of this little hotel with fine dining. Lovely helpful staff, exceptional service and restful night's sleep. Restaurant full of locals, which is always a good sign. Imaginitively decorated room very comfortable.

An individual Logis de France hotel plus good restaurantWe were given a room on the ground floor which obviously was for disabled clients and with the door opening directly onto the car entrance drive.. Both the main bedroom and bathroom were of a good size with individual ideas on design which were far from neutral. The bed was large and comfortable though a fight to stay cool as leaving the one window open and blind up to give a draught was noisy. Additionally with blind up, the room was overlooked if anyone walked by at ground level.or was dining late in the restaurant. The restaurant that June evening was outside - a rather cramped area but made up by the excellent meal. Also where for the first time since a train journey going from Helsinki to Leningrad in the 1980s that I ate sturgeon ( but farmed in France). You need to keep a look out for the hotel on the right as you go down the one way street in Issoudun. There is limited parking space but more than enough room to turn an SUV into the hotel entrance. The hotel has a history but as we ate outside the main building, and our room was on other side of the entranceway to main building, we did not really soak up the atmosphere. Overall not a cheap price for accommodation and food but worth it for the individuality.

Quirky roomWe stayed in this hotel just for one night on our way to the Dordogne. Our room was spotlessly clean with the bath and sink within the bedroom with an amazing (fake) tree looking as if it was growing up through the floor. We had dinner on the terrace and the food was delicious although we couldn't make our waiter understand we wanted a half bottle of wine so had to drink a whole one! Breakfast in the morning was obviously continental with plenty of choice. A lovely experience.

Lovely experience, Interesting room, Amazing Restaurant, Real French Hotel! This is how you feel France! Hotel is tricky to find by car as Hotel entrance is on a one way street and the entrance is through the old Coaching Arch. However it has a lovely Garage which appears to have been built for ostlers to house coaches in, but suited my cherished old car very well! All very secure. The staff were most welcoming and the room had been brought up to date using old timbers, barrels and artifacts in a very pleasing and comfortable manner - such a treat from modern hotels in dreadful identical chains! It was spacious with a very avantgarde bathroom in open plan with the room, complete with huge triangular bath and shower! Very good if you share with someone you really know well, and if you don't know them well, you jolly soon will! After a great cocktail in the small bar we had a truly brilliant meal, one of the best I have experienced in this country of superb dining, both in ingredients and cuisine. Go in hungry, don't pick before and savour the result! Service is perfect, helpful and friendly and I would recommend it without hesitation. We only stayed one night as we were on the way back from Spain, but it is a hotel to which I cannot wait to return. It is value for money and strives very hard make you welcome.

Large, nicely decorated room, excellent mealsSpent the night here en route from Moustiers to Cancale (our 2nd visit here). We were welcomed warmly and shown to our room, which was spacious and well-appointed. The bath, which has a large opening into the room, has a large claw-foot tub and a large towel warmer, 2 sinks, and an enclosed WC. Unfortunately, wifi was very slow; we couldnt watch our US nightly news. Dinner was excellent. They offer a well-priced 3 course menu with a variety of selections and some well-priced wines and aperitifs. Service was friendly and efficient, and the ambiance was elegant nice stemware and table setting. Optional breakfast was also excellent, in their relatively new breakfast room. We highly recommend.
