Bonne oeuvre a Bonnoevre...quel bijou! We stopped over here en route for Niort and we are so glad we did. What a delightful place. Next to the church (well, it is Le Prieure), offering fine views over the quiet public garden below the terrace, this hotel ticked all the boxes for us. A warm welcome, a well appointed, quiet room overlooking the garden was followed by an excellent dinner starting with a kir, crab and pineapple mis en bouche, salmon tartare, selle d'agneau perfectly cooked and presented washed down with Julienas started our wedding anniversary celebration. The staff had picked this up and our desert was capped with a sun sugar cover to mark our special occasion! We really could not fault this place, the team worked well to deliver a great result. We slept well and enjoyed our continental breakfast the next morning before continuing our journey into La France profonde.

A place to revisitWhat excellent recommendation we received. We will return to this fantastic hotel and restaurant. I had oysters and a duck on apples. To dessert an apple pie with ice cream. Incredible. We will make this detour as often we can in order to experience this treat again.

A Wonderful Hidden GemWe stayed 1 night, on the way to the Cherbourg Ferry - the hotel is about 4 hours drive south of the port. This place is just perfect. Set in a very small village, the staff are very welcoming and friendly, the food is excellent. We stated in room 2, on the 1st floor, it had a lovely view over the countryside & small river. It was modern with a really comfy bed. The restaurant is superb, with different from the normal dishes - my husband had beetroot & smoked eel for starter followed by melt in the mouth lamb. My fillet steak was delicious. Wine list was extensive, but a good wine was 27, which was reasonable for this type of restaurant. The Maitre D was very attentive & had a great sense of humour. Breakfast was excellent at 9, with choices of fresh fruit salad, pastries, various fresh fruit juices etc. Overall, we will definitely return to this hidden gem.

Excellent service and restaurantI turned up on spec, by bicycle, and the people at the hotel could not have been more helpful. They booked me into a room, put my bike somewhere safe after I had unloaded the panniers, and helped me carry my luggage up to the room. After showering, I ate lunch and then dinner at the hotel, which has an excellent restaurant. It's a little on the pricey side (18 Euros for a main course, and 12.5 for dessert), but the food is very well prepared, and the waitress very helpful. The hotel is fairly easy to find, being right next door to the church (which is visible from some distance away) and pretty much in the centre of the village. The village is quite small, so you can't really get lost in it, once you get there. Light sleepers might find the proximity to the church less than ideal, as the church has a bell which chimes every quarter hour and chimes the hours on the hour.
