Not at all helpful or friendlyBooked this hotel online from Italy as it was half way between wonderful Bellagio and our next stop at La Locherie France. It was booked specifically as they take dogs. Arrived @6pm after driving 550km in unexpected 29 degree temp, tired with 2 dogs who just wanted supper and a walk. Madame le manager refused to let us stay and said it was because we had 2 dogs her particular concern was our wonderful gentle golden retriever. I explained that we had booked because of the dogs and no mention was made of only one dog, and that we were exhausted and had driven from Italy. Her response the tried and tested ' le shrug'

Shamefully charged 140 EUR one month after our stayIn July 2017 me and two friends all in our early thirties - were on a bike trip (Lyon-Orleans in 3 days). After a 140km trip we arrived at the hotel at about 18 oclock. On first sight the hotel looks a bit outdated, next to a busy road; but theres a nice patio in the back, suitable for having a cold drink. After refreshing we went to town for dinner and returned around 23 oclock to recover for the upcoming bike trip the next day. In the morning we had breakfast and after paying for our stay we left. Nothing special, so far so good. One month (!) later, 141,90 was credited from our visa-card which was used to reserve the booking (via booking.com). While at first we thought something went wrong with the direct payment of our stay, it appeared that they have charged us this amount of money to renew some duvets and towels of which the manager says we left behind yellow spots on them, and she is not able to wash it out. Not only do we strongly oppose these accusations, we also disagree with the way the manager of Le Merle Blanc did this: crediting without communication or warning, ignoring our opposition to these facts and not coming up with any proof (she did not even send us a picture). Furthermore she charged us for the purchase of new items, while she did not try the option of industrial washing (in the apparent case that she would be correct). This kind of practices are impermissible and shameful for a hotel in Western-Europe. I could go on about the low price/value rate for this hotel, but thats something the pictures proof themselves. My only recommendation is to avoid this hotel, and as such better avoid the whole city of Digoin as our experiences there were not great neither. Hope this review will be of use for future travelers. We have tried to advocate against this practice through booking.com but they take their hands off and do not handle claims.

Horrible experience!!Very poor hotel!! Everything is old and dirty. Next to a busy road. Restaurant is very expensive compared to what you get. The owners are real golddiggers and charge you for whatever they can !! Stay away from this hotel is my only recommendation !
