Great hotel for depart first shinkansen (high speed train) back to TokyoThis hotel is almost same building of JR Shin-Hakodate Hokuto. The room is big and nice view. You can see sun rise from window of hotel. There is lift which good for people with luggages and shared onsen. Minimart is on first floor open until 23:00.

Hotel Lagent Plaza Hakodate Hokuto next to Shin Hakodate Hokuto StationBooked last minute as not sure of timing of the Shinkansen using the 6 day JR East South Hokkaido pass from Tokyo to Kutchan, Hokkaido. As needed a place to transit over for a night, the only hotel currently close to the station of 30 metres is this hotel. It is new and has a convenient store but closed at 10pm which we missed as after the checked in around 1015pm. The good news is that the hotel do have a small mini mart for cup noodles and snacks to buy if needed like us since we didnt had dinner. Smooth checked in and room is new, big, clean, comfortable in term of Japan accommodation standard and was cosy for family of 4 on 2 double beds.nice scenery as probably the tallest building currently standing within 3km or more of surrounding area. Quite good variety for breakfast but simple items compared to the usual Japanese breakfast offered. Mid size male and female Onsen baths, one interior and the other in then open area if you are bold enough to do on like we did on 6Dec 2019 winter time with the whole surrounding covered in white snow. In the morning next day, was able to have a nice stroll and enjoy the quiet covered snow vicinity near the hotel in your warm clothing as temperature was around 0 degree. Recommended for anyone especially family as room is big and new, for those who take JR east south Hokkaido pass Shinkansen to Sapporo from Tokyo for stopover rest. NOT suitable for people who want to head to Hakodate downtown city as it will take at least 30min or more each way by local train and note that train timing. Overall, for the cost of 105usd night for family of 4 is value for money, convenient, great location if on Shinkansen schedule, breakfast included, on last minute booking. Do note that there is another hotel In construction just next to this, think is named Toyoko, which may be even more value for money when it open for Budget travellers in due time.

Over night for ealry shinkansenStay over night for the first shinkansen to back tokyo. The hotel located next to the shinkansen station. The room is new, clean, bed comfortable. The Staff are friendly. Highly recommended when you have to stay at Shin-Hakodate Station

Amazing Stay before heading to SapporoMy friends and I tried to go from Tokyo to Sapporo but didn't realize that the trains stopped running at a certain time, so we were pretty much stranded. Luckily this hotel was just a few steps away so we just booked the night so we could catch our train in the morning. Only being at the hotel for a couple hours, I had an amazing experience from the Hotel Staff, the morning views, the cleanliness of the hotel itself, to the breakfast buffet, everything was great. Despite the situation we were in, we enjoyed ourselves for such a short period. The service in Japan is unmatched. It was a great way to start our 2 week journey in Japan.

New hotel for Hayabusa shinkansen stopBrand new hotel attached to the brand new Hakodate-Hokuto train station, the hub for Hayabusa shinkansen which connected Hokkaido to the main island; Honshu. Not much around this area, unless you travel to Hakodate. We stayed overnight as we needed to get to Ainokura 7 hours on the shinkansen (4 hrs on Hayabusa to Omiya and 3 hrs on Hakutaka to Shin Takaoka). Hotel was attached to the train station. The reception was on 2nd floor. It had onsen and laundry facility on almost all floor. Very clean and the room was spacious for Japans standard. However, the staff was not the friendliest. We booked for a family of 3, but only provided with 2 sets of towels and toiletries. PJs and slippers were also provided. Our room had a sofa bed with storage compartment for pillow and duvet BUT no pillow case, bed sheet nor duvet cover. When we asked (twice) if we could have an extra bed sheet, the staff said no. Not sure if it was hotel policy or both parties were lost in translation? We booked with no breakfast, but there were plenty of small shops on the ground floor and at the train station. Theres a ramen shop also on the ground floor.
