  Great views, other than that: fairly average

  The hotel is located about 1 km (a 15 min. walk) outside the village of Cannero Riviera on a hill along the main road, overlooking Lago Maggiore. Part of the hotel is a beautiful old villa, the other part is a modern annex, which is where our room was. The room was basic: a squeaky bed with flimsy pillows, a TV and a small balcony, but was spotless clean. The balcony overlooks the lake, but offers little privacy as it's right next to a stairway leading to other rooms. The bathroom was good (and again very clean), though the strange construction of the shower cabin means you have to limbo-dance your way into it. As there are no carpets anywhere in the hotel, the hallway and the rooms are extremely noisy and you're likely to wake up a couple of times from doors slamming or the cleaning lady doing her work. Note that the rooms do not have air-conditioning or even a simple fan, which in our case meant it was uncomfortable hot. Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the terrace, which is the hotel's best asset. It offers a great view, and the choice of food is large for Italian standards. We found the cocky head-waiter of the restaurant a bit of a turn-off though. A limited number of parking spaces are available on a very narrow and steep road and parking can be a bit of a challenge. We paid 96 EUR per night for our room, which in the high season at Lago Maggiore is fairly normal, though I still feel it is a lot of money for what is in essence very basic 2* accommodation.

  Great welcome, good view, good food

  This hotel was great value for money, with free parking off the road and a restaurant on site. The hosts were very helpful. The food was good and reasonable. The room comfortable, clean and with a great view of the lake. If you want to walk into town you can do so along the lake shore, although the path down to the lake is steep, so not for those unsteady on their feet. Lovely breakfast terrace. Recommended.

  Nice homepage but the reality is disappointing

  Rooms: Very uncomfortable, poor, overpriced and without a good doorlock. Breakfast: Very poor. The hotel and the beach access isn't handicapped accessible and also a problem for elderly people and families with small children. The restaurant is only open in summer!!!

  Very nice hotel in a good location, with a fabulous view

  Strong points: - Due to the nice location, the view from the balcony was fabulous. - The staff was friendly and willing to help. - Everything was very clean Things to improve: - The breakfast was good, but basic and the same every day.

  This place has plenty of charme.

  We stayed at this little friendly family-run hotel. What a fantastic view from our nice room and the shared little balcony! We had breakfast and a fine dinner on the nice terrace. Going swimming or walking to the ancient village was no problem. There is a little steep path down to the lake. We went by boat to Cannobio where we strolled through the old little lanes. There is a foodpath running along the Cannobio stream to Santa Anna Gorge, one of the most picturesque spots. It is also possible to make the Lago - Maggiore - Express trip. By boat to Locarno then by a little Centovalli-train through the wild valleys Centovalli and Valle Vigezzo. The high absolute highlight! The last station was Domodossola. Then by another train to Stresa. The boat took us back to Cannero. We enjoyed our time very much and we can recommend this charming place.
