  Difficult hotel to classify really - friendly, bit bizarre, little battered

  This is quite a bizarre, strange hotel - really friendly, quite clean, reasonable price - but full of strange corners, odd artwork, leopard skin cushions and amazing friezes on some of the buildings. The rooms we stayed in were quite small - but sufficient, the breakfast variable but generally good. But the overall hotel - well you've got to see it really. Worth a stay just to see the oddities.

  1970's Vintage

  A family run hotel that has vintage charm. I would have given this hotel 5 stars all around but there is one major setback and that is the food. When you think of Italy food is probably at the top of the chart..fresh Italian cuisine..not canned or pre packaged..come on people..this is Italy..It really shouldn't be allowed. It should be illegal to use/serve pre packaged food. I was dying for gnocchi and the menu said they were in a saffron butter sauce..hmmm..they looked and I am sure they tasted like trout bait..yes..You know the little colored marshmallows that come in a clear plastic jar? I swear that is where they came from..It's a good thing we have lots of humor..we started laughing & couldn't stop. It was just hysterical. Any way the hotel is pretty cool but don't plan on eating there.

  Strange but nice!

  This is a very strange hotel with odd décor, however very nice. The room we were in could do with a bit of an update (especially the bathroom). The bed creaked at the slightest move. It is a bit noisy with the trains but we knew the line was there when we booked so cannot complain. Breakfast was ok, staff were pleasant.

  If you feel like throwing your money away.. Stay here!

  I have stayed in hundreds of hotels bad and good all over the world but I can tell you this Hotel( if you can call it that )! Takes the cake for the most appalling customer service I have EVER experienced . My family and I booked this "Hotel" for a three day stay from Boxing Day and to our absolute horror after driving hours to reach the place from our wonderful lodging in Courmayeur over Christmas we drive to the location, park the car and run to the front door in the pouring rain only to find the place completely unattended!. The hotel was closed up, no one to greet us but a hand written note left on the door that read" for service call this number". So while still standing in the rain as there was no shelter we dial the number.. Only to have no one pick up. At this point we were forced to find alternative lodging at double the cost as we had not pre booked. The following day we head back to La Bussola to find out what had gone wrong only to be greeted by an arrogant, self centred money hungry manager who cared less that we had to find alternative lodging . He rudely told us it was simply too bad that we could not reach management and on top of that we would be charged for the first night stay !!! Even though we had no chance in hell of ever staying there . This manager is a disgrace and this hotel should never be recommended to anyone. What an easy way to make money ( don't let your guests in, and still charge them for the first night). As I said this is a first for me, please don't stupidly throw your money away as I did. Try somewhere else in the region.
