  A Wonderful place by the Sea!

  We had the most wonderful and refreshing stay at the Hotel Klippen, overlooking the village of Gudhjem and the Baltic Sea. The staff was wonderful - so helpful, personable, and welcoming. We stayed in Room 2 which is a corner room off of the upper deck with a view of the Baltic Sea. It was small, but the bed was very comfortable and it had a private bath. I would highly recommend this room as well as its neighbors- 3 & 4. The breakfast was beautifully presented and offered something for everyone. The grounds and patio were all being freshened up with summertime plantings. It is a short walk down the stone pathway to the idyllic fishing village where there are many shops and restaurants to enjoy. I think it is important to note that many of the previous reviews reflect the Conditions at the hotel before it underwent renovations (and, I believe, new ownership.) Gundi is so proud of his hotel, so welcoming to his guests, and has such a wonderful staff that it just makes you smile! We highly recommend a stay at this unique hotel.

  Above the town

  In July my daughter and I stayed at Hotel Klippen which is up a hill from the cute town. We were met by a very pleasant woman who took us to our room in the "Annex". This is right next to the Hotel. We had a twin room which was clean and neat. We had a small table and 2 chairs to enjoy looking at the water while drinking coffee. We walked down a path to get to the commercial area. For some this shortcut would be difficult. The breakfasts were hearty and tasty. When we were leaving the manager helped us get a cab to the ferry and even gave us a bottle of wine!

  Best view

  Hotel klippen prides itself on being the hotel with the best view in Denmark. I couldn't agree more! From the large cafe terrace you get a beautiful overlook of the harbour and town, sea as far as the eye can see and the Bornholm coastline. Rooms are small and simple, but comfortable with good beds and proper water supply/temperature in your own bathroom. The breakfast buffet is delicious and varied, with several different choices of bread, cheeses and coldcuts, cereal and fruits. They even put out a toaster so you can get your toast warm and how you like it! Those kind of small comforts and thoughtfulness makes this place seem very homey and chilled, and smiling and talkative staff makes it a great place to just hang out and chill. Also they're very dog friendly, even to a young and boisterous puppy that pukes, barks and jumps to greet you, which was a great relief. They did ask me to keep him out of the dining hall though, "because some people are afraid of dogs" which I think is both fair and good judgement towards the other guests :) Oh, and the singing consierge! He's just one of those naturally and infectiously happy people that walks around singing to himself, and maybe even a bit to you too ;) I felt very at home and well taken care of at Klippen, and though it is a little pricy, I just can't bring myself to regret a dime!

  Fantastic meal, welcoming staff -- & killer views!

  Wow!!! I did not have the pleasure of staying in this hotel, but were I to return to Bornholm I would definitely stay here! The views are absolutely magnificent, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We were wandering around Bornholm and stumbled upon this place. We enjoyed a glass of wine with this stunning view from the terrace. There are many rooms with that exact view. When we asked the Icelandic owner about dinner, he informed us that he was making leg of lamb for his staff but there would be enough to share with us. My colleague enjoyed that (insanely good mushroom sauce!) I had delicious tomato soup and a salad. Not many options on the menu which is common in Bornholm, but an absolutely delicious meal and a beautiful view. Very highly recommended!

  Not worth it

  The rooms are nothing like a hotel and it should be called a hostel. Bar service is okay but the food, what can I say, it could be from canteen. One evening we had the fish buffet and were looking forward to but it was a great disappointment and is now one of the biggest joke of the trip. And one can find many ways to joke about this place.
