Great traditional experienceI really enjoyed staying here and experiencing a taste of traditional Japanese life. The rooms have a private bathroom, but the public baths are definitely worth a visit! For the more shy people, go later at night or early in the morning and they're deserted. The view from the room of the lake was beautiful. The kaiseki dinner was delicious. The wifi only works in the lobby. My bed on the floor was very comfortable, I thought I was in a normal bed when I woke up.

A taste of traditionIf you want to enjoy traditional Japanese lodgings then this is the place. We arrived after dark so we didn't get to appreciate our room view until morning. Our room was what I expected. There was a small area, when we opened the door, to take our shoes off before entering the main room. The beds were on the floor, the furniture low, but everything we might need was there. Kettle, tv etc. The bathroom was interesting, I have to admit, and I felt like I had walked into someone's home rather than a hotel. My husband braved the public baths, twice, and there were traditional robes supplied in our room for him to wear. The whole bathing ritual was really interesting to learn. I personally found it difficult sleeping on the floor but it was an experience you have to try while in Japan. The hotel did cater to guests that just couldn't manage to get down that far. Breakfast was a traditional Kaiseki banquet with a good selection of dishes to choose from. The staff were on hand to translate what each dish was in case you couldn't tell...... Free Wifi was only available in the foyer
