Wonderful Japan hotspring hotel in Japan's northeastGreat hotel, stayed in the traditional Japanese tatami room. Kids love it. Foods are great and the hot spring is clean and awesome.

nice place! - a typical traveler's hotel west of Lake TowadaOverall rating: 3.5 stars Hotel Kazuno looks out onto rice fields and the town of Oyu Onsen. The service was polite and attentive. The room featured shoji screens, tatami mats, and comfy Western-style twin beds. It was clean, plenty large, and contained a sufficient number of easy-to-reach electric outlets. The large window lacked a screen, and a sign warned of the risk of admitting a "noxious insect" if one opened it. Internet access was availabe in the lobby but not in the guest room. The public baths were clean but ordinary. There are so many wonderful onsen in northern Japan! The men's area had one indoor and outdoor pool; I assume the same was true for the women's baths. A delicious multicourse dinner was served in the dining room restaurant. It featured nabe, a special Akita rice dish, tempura, salad, and other goodies. Three samples of different Akita sakes were a fun touch. Breakfast in a breakfast banquet hall was just OK. My stay was pleasant and the tariff was very reasonable, but the hotel and its location lacked any stand-out features. If you're passing through the Oyu Onsen area, located between Lake Towada and Hirosaki, it is a safe and solid overnight choice.

Tried to scam us and threatened to call the police when we called them out on it.So we had booked a room for 2 directly through the hotel via E-Mail. They had given us an estimate for 12000yen for half board per night. When we arrived they tried to change their price to 20000yen per night with breakfast. We discussed this with them for 40 minutes after arriving and finally settled on 10000yen per night for the whole room excluding breakfast and dinner. We then went about our stay where they called our room and knocked on the door constantly prompting us to place an order for todays dinner even when we clearly stated we would rather eat ala carte. They also kept pushing us on the breakfast, but this was not as bad. When we the last 2 days decided to not eat at the hotel at all because the food wasnt anything to brag about they got even worse, with up to 3 staff members showing up on our doorstep at a time with a menu to take an order, and holding the door for 10min. At check-out they (same person we agreed on the 10000yen price) again tried to make us pay 20000yen per night, and when we said that was unacceptable they threatened to call the police. We told them to please call the police so they could help us clear things up, but then they refused. We said they would have to give us the price we settled on or we would just walk away from the bill. Finally we were able to pay the price agreed upon, but all in all the worst hotel experience in our lives.
