Great traditional hotel, fantastic original experienceThis hotel bills itsefl as traditional, but in fact has two styles of rooms - western & Japanese. The traditional ones are a great experience. Quite large, sliding partition doors, low level table & a futon set up for a bed. I attended a traditional entertainment evening which was fantastic. Everyone sits on low level cushions, your own meal table has the various dishes & cooking pots and the staff guide you through the meal. Great entertainment as well. Beware - the spa is of the Japanese variety where malke & femal are segreated & you only have a hand towel to cover your modesty.

Good place to get introduced to the traditional Japanese hotel and hot spring ...We stayed in the Kasugai after visiting the 5th station on Mt Fuji and the Itchiku Kubota museum ... both highly recommended. We were in a large mixed group and were staying in Kasugai to experience the traditional Japanese hotel experience ... traditional room, hot springs and the banquet. Having had this experience previously on more than one occasion, I was not expecting a modern hotel ... we enjoyed our evening ... we enjoyed the traditional room, sleeping on futons on the tatami mats, we enjoyed the traditional banquet, we enjoyed the 'hot spring' and communal bath, we enjoyed parading around in yukata, we even enjoyed the karaoke ... but (and given that it was a large group) the experience was a diluted version of the real thing. In saying this we could not criticise the fundamentals in the hotel ... the hotel was clean, well presented ... staff were friendly and went out of their way to make the group feel welcome (even if English was in short supply) ... Would we go back ... probably not. But did we enjoy the experience - definitely. Did it encourage us to look for the more authentic experience in a Ryokan (especially my wife for who it was a first trip to Japan) ... definitely yes. With that outcome I suppose kasugai has to get a qualified endorsement ...

Very enjoyable stayMy husband, adult daughter, and I stayed in a Japanese style room. We found the room to be more spacious and nicer than expected and well worth the money. The hotel onsen was excellent and so was the buffet breakfast.

Superb Japanese experienceThe rooms were big and comfortable albeit somewhat hard pillows. But sleeping on the tatamis and dressing with the yutakas for fine dining experience was priceless. Breakfast was good although the queue was long .

An Amazing Japanese ExperienceLocated in a semi-rural area. Our room choice was a traditional Tatami room with Futon Mats at floor level which were prepared for sleeping while we were at dinner. The sleep comfort was surprisingly good, although those with mobility issues would have difficulty getting down and up. The room was large sized by Japanese standards, and could be divided by the beautiful paper screened, sliding doors. The Bathroom has a traditional Japanese sitting shower area and a separate bath. All the kit needed to take a bath in the Onsen, Hot springs is also provided. A Good breakfast was included with a large variety of both Japanese and Western foods. Free bottled water was supplied in the room along with a 'Tea Ceremony' kit. The free WiFi worked at a reasonable speed. The room temperature was too hot for our liking with the a/c controlled remotely by hotel with no user adjustment. A personal safe was also in the room.
