    Warm, welcoming and charming

We only stayed for one night but wished we could have stayed longer. The owners, Dominique and his wife, are hands on managers who seem to work tirelessly to insure that guests enjoy every minute of their stay. Our room was on the second floor of the main building overlooking the front courtyard and had recently been renovated. The furniture was a collection of antique pieces and the beds were very comfortable. Clearly, much time and care went into choosing the furniture and the decor. We ate dinner in the dining room and had an excellent three course meal prepared by Dominique's wife and served by Dominique and an assistant server (these two are amazing!). The hotel is situated outside of the town of Treguier in a peaceful and quiet area. I would definitely return.

Excellent food, comfort a little lacking.

Just a few kilometers outside of the ancient city center of Tréguier, you will find the Hotel Kastell Dinech, located in a very quiet countryside location in the Cote-dArmor area of northern Brittany. Although, there are some road signs directing you towards the hotel, youll probably need a GPS to get there without too much driving around the neighbourhood. The hotel is completely surrounded with green bush and trees, so youll have absolutely no problem finding peace and quiet during your stay. The host, Dominique, and his wife are absolutely friendly and helpful people, working with a small team of staff to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. During breakfast and dinner, theres always someone around to help you with any question you may have. We found both the breakfast and dinner service to be of very high standards. Actually, dinner at the Kastell Dinech is quite excellent and probably the best youll find anywhere in the larger Tréguier area. There is no a la carte menu, but every morning Dominique invites you to choose between two freshly prepared main dishes, either fish or meat. First course and deserts were equally delicious. We can honestly say that every single night we had dinner at the hotel, it was a real treat for us and for our 12 year old son. Unfortunately, the accomodation at the hotel Kastell Dinech does not rise up to the same high standards as the cuisine does. Of course, we absolutely love the typical and authentic Bretonne building style of the main building and the renovated stables. But wed expected the rooms, which were quite small, to be somewhat more clean and with a fresher atmosphere. Also, the sleeping quality of the beds was not as good as we had hoped for. Theres a nice pool and a quiet garden at the hotel, but we found both a litlle lacking in maintenance and available service. Consequently, while we were there, most of the guests didnt seem to make much use of either facility. Overall, we did very much enjoy our stay at the Kastell Dinech, mostly because of the fabulous food we got to eat there. On the other hand well probably look for just a little more comfort next time we get to visit Brittany.

16th century farm converted to rural hotel

The hotel is located just outside the delightful town of Treguier. Bedrooms are located in converted farm buildings, and are in the process of renovation. After the first night in one of the "older" rooms we were transferred to a renovated one, with a walk-in shower rather than a bath with a shower attachment. Both rooms were on the first floor, with several points of sloping ceilings - so a few bumps on the head! The reception and dining room are in the main building, a minute's walk across the sometimes very wet garden. We had 3 dinners over our 6-night stay, which were good, fish especially, thought not outstanding. We had advised the owner Dominique that we did not wish to partake of the buffet breakfast and he offered us "un petit dejeuner" which we understood to mean a cup of coffee and a croissant. My partner only had coffee. We were therefore very surprised to have been charged the full breakfast rate of 13 euros for my coffee and brioche - although there was no charge for my partner's cup of coffee! The location was very quiet and peaceful. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool but unfortunately the weather was too poor to use it.

Relaxing small hotel with excellent food

We stayed with a vintage car group for two nights in this excellent small hotel. The owner Domenique and his wife looked after us all very well with great local food specialities. The rooms are variable and some are small but the atmosphere is delightful and just what we needed. I had a car problem and Domenique was most helpful assisting with arrangements for the car to be collected from the side of the road and then for us to get a taxi the next day. His assistance was much appreciated and was typical of a hotelier who cared for his guests, enjoyed having them in their hotel, and provided every assistance to them. We wish Domenique and his wife every success. They deserve it and we hope to visit again another year

Tranquility ! Comfortable stay and delicious cooking !

Highly recommended, this hidden Britanny manor near the nice little town of Tréguier. We had a wonderful walking holiday (90 kms in 6 days, superb diversity and tranquility) but also a great starting and returning point each day : Kastell Dinech ! We stayed in the garden family rooms (with interconnecting door ) next to the main building with our family (4 persons, 1 dog, 1 rabbit). Very comfortable: excellent shower, large drawers, great beds, hairdryer etc. Breakfast is splendid, with plenty of choice, not minimalistic French at all ! Diner, cooked by the lady of the house (who also makes the delicious homemade jams), Laurence, is heavenly. Just treat yourself to it, you wont regret it !! Her husband, Domique, takes care of guests arriving and departing, your choice of drinks and crepes at breakfast, getting the swimming pool ready, the bikes out, ... Lovely couple, wonderful stay, peaceful nights - a dream come true !
