PintorescoLa casa es pintoresca, los muebles y la decoración con sabor antiguo. Suelo de parqué. Patio trasero con mesas, agradable. Aseo pequeño. Camas confortables. Muy cerca de la playa y zona de restaurantes. Silencioso. Desayuno abundante y variado. Wifi buena.

Lovingly restored town centre hotelWe arrived fairly late in Kalamata looking for a room that was not too pricey. We also needed it to be of a high standard. This place certainly ticked our boxes. It's an old building and is centrally situated. Our room together with the rest of the establishment was furnished to a high standard. There is adequate street parking and I think there may have been allocated parking too. (Not absolutely sure). Both the men running the hotel together with a lady were so very helpful. At breakfast when we asked if the eggs came with bacon the gentleman popped next door to buy some bacon as he had run out! That is good service for sure. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast also came with an array of extra dishes including special little doughnuts that appeared to be home made. This was all served in a delightful courtyard at the rear of the hotel.

CONVENIENT PLACE TO STAY IF YOU LIKE WALKINGWe were in Kalamata as that was where many Australians left Greece to head to Crete during WW2. We walked down to the old city, but unfortunately the museum was closed. Had a most enjoyable very cheap "screwed"chicken for lunch in the old city (was skewered chicken). Stopped at a local cafe/wine bar nearby the property and very much enjoyed the animated converstion between two male locals. The person serving could not speak english and the only english speaking person there helped us get our caraffe of wine and then later told us the two men were father and son and were "discussing" who had caught the biggest fish. He was also able to direct us to a monument to the Australian Soliders in WW2, which was in the park opposite. Great experience. The owner of the hotel was unaware of any Australian monuments. The bathroom was very small, you had to step into the shower and then close the door to get to the toilet and the shower recess was also small with hand held hose only and unfortuntely a show curtain that kept wrapping around you as you turned around. Breakfast was great, with the owner cooking fresh eggs as required and serving lovely little fresh bakery delights to your table, as well as the usual choice of other breakfast fare. Parking at the door and waterfront restaurants five minutes walk. Depending on what you are in Kalamata for, you might find this property a little out of the way. Rooms definately not for big people. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Just what we wantedAs our flight into Kalamata arrived 18.30 we needed to stay in the town as we had a long drive next day to Gythio. Our room (1) was off the reception and facing the street which was not noisy. We parked opposite. A few minutes walk away past small shops and cafes is the waterfront with lots of tavernas. The man on reception when we arrived (Costas??) was very friendly and helpful. There is a pretty garden where we had breakfast which was basic but adequate. It is not a buffet but served. Hibiscus Hotel also known as Ibiscos Hotel

Very nice stayUnfortunately I had only one night here - thougt of staying one more day in Kalamata mainly to stay longer at Hibiscus. Small and nice hotel located close (walking distance) to everything. Very nice and clean room. My room was a singel to the garden - quiet despite the central location and Saturday. Nice and cosy garden. Good breakfast. Nice owner and staff. I know where I will stay next time in Kalamata.
