  El hotel Ibis Avalon está bien situado para conocer la zona incluyendo Vezelay, ciudad partida del Camino de Santiago. Se trata de un Ibis clásico, con wifi gratis. La gran desventaja es el no contar con ascensor si se viaja con niños.

  Hit and miss

  Usually very pleasant but maybe not a good day for them. Average welcome, completion of a "police form" that we didn't have to do anywhere else in France. Room smelt of smoke, no bottle of water in bedroom. In the morning, breakfast seemed to have been dumbed down a bit too. Usually eggs are available, and different regional cheeses. But not that day. Maybe we just got them on a bad day! Still comfortable beds though, and the morning receptionist was more smiley and competent.

  Great Ibis in Country side

  Nice location, not far from highway; Fantastic restaurant for dinner, especially if you take your dinner on terrasse during summer time. The plus is the chairs in the garden, will give you the Opportunity to enjoy the star in a dark sky

  Not more than one night

  The hotel is not in Avallon but 4 km outside it. So the car is necessary if you think to visit Avallon. A simple structure surrounded by the country and facing the main road getting to Avallon. It is a three star hotel but the management seems not to take enough care of the garden outside the hotel which looks more like an uncultivated field. Something changes inside with a small but pleasant hall. Our room was of average dimension but comfortable enough for a one night stay. This is my advice: if you think to stay more than one night look for something in Avallon.

  A super welcome - Un accueil chaleureux

  I stopped here on Saturday 18 July - it is an unprepossessing hotel at first glance - just off of the A6 motorway - but set in fields on a country road that will take you to Avallon. I wasn't expecting much and knowing I'd be arriving late had telephoned ahead to say I'd be arriving around mid-night. A reassuring woman told me that the hotel was open 24 hours so not to worry. When I arrived at about 11pm - I was given the warmest welcome by the gentleman on reception. He apologised if I'd been kept waiting. Actually I had not - I rang the bell and he was there very quickly. He also offered me a welcome glass of wine - which after a long drive from Marseille, was really appreciated. Although I am an Accor member and this is part of the loyalty package - many Accor hotels forget to do this. This Ibis did not. I was so surprised by the warmth of the welcome, that I did something I rarely do - I actually wrote to the hotel to give them positive feedback. The hotel itself is set away from the road in the countryside very close to the A6. It is also about ten minutes's drive from Avallon which is a very picturesque town. I had a room on the ground floor which looked out onto fields. Lovely sleep and I awoke to the sound of lambs bleating. The breakfast was to a high standard and served fastidiuosly given the Covid-19 situation. Great staff on duty at breakfast too. I noticed a very high level of interpersonal skills at this hotel which I think is worth commenting on. In particular a number of guests were quite testy on the morning of the 19th for no other reason than due to Covid-19 there was less choice of seats in the breakfast room. I observed large amounts of tack and diplomacy from the manager on duty. Never been before there but very impressed. You can also have dinner outside the hotel looking out to the fields. I do not often write this much but feel these staff are an exceptional team and great ambassadors for the hospitality industry in general and Accor in particular. I'm so impressed in fact; that I am going back to stay when I return from London to Marseille on the night of the 24th July! If you are travelling in an electric car, as I was, it will be good to know that there is a free charging station less than 10km distant in Avallon just where the Rue Tour du Magasin turns off the Rue de Lyon.
