Terrible service6 months ago I called the hotel and booked 13 rooms for my birthday. My thought was to celebrate my birthday in my summerhouse and provide a place to stay for my friends and family. Upon calling back 4 months ago to confirm the rooms I was told they had no reservations under my name. I started to panic as invites had been sent out. Even though I insisted that I spoke to the owner (who was now on holiday in the Caribians) I was told that it was my own fault things had gone wrong since I hadnt made sure that they confirmed the booking to my in writing which I was told I should have thought of. Anyway couldnt get all angry as they still had 4 available rooms and I needed those at least. So Friday the day before my party I went by and payed for my rooms so my guests didnt have to face any economic claims and I was assured that all was now fine and they made a note all was good. Then on the evening of my birthday one of the couples and their young son arrived at night to be told I only had two reservations and that there was no room for them, even though I had paid. They had to argue and insist with the staff that it was a mistake and they were met by an arrogance and attitude thats beyond acceptable. By the way dont even get me started about the day I wrote them to confirm the names for the rooms as I had agreed to do. I didnt hear anything for a week and when I called them I was told they where too buissy to reply on those sort of things but they had seen the mail. This place and their service level makes Fawlty Towers look like a 5 star hotel. If you are ever in Højby and need a place I would strongly recommend the local In or airbnb instead.

Delightful overnight stayEvery second month we go to a hotel / inn to not have our own time together and just enjoy life. We chose Hotel Højbysø with 3 course menu and breakfast, which proved to be a good choice, a local hotel with a touch of Scandinavia. The rooms are spacious and with good space, equipped with the expected hair dryer, etc. nice, clean and bright. For dinner we got salmon for starters, served on fresh vegetables of local produce. The main course was a well prepared chicken with raw fried potatoes with a crispy bacon wrapped broccoli, inventive and tasty. We chose a white wine from Alsace, Bestheim Pino Blanc from 2014 it could be cooler but okay and nice for the price. For dessert we got a chocolate mousse, fine in the taste it was served in a small cup which made it look a little tame out - unfortunately. All in all, a place I can recommend for 2, for a party or just for fun.

Fantastic hotel !Last week we had 33 Belgians staying at this hotel. We all agree that this was an excellent experience: the hotel, the staff, the rooms, the restaurant, the whole atmosphere inside and outside the hotel. It is simply second to none.

Large room and good serviceWe where doing a tour around Odsherred and found this hotel to be convenient a a base. The hotel consists of a one story building so the rooms are easy accessible. Our room was a family room and was spacious and clean. Shower room had all the basic amenities. There was no phone in the room but wifi worked fine. Good large TV set but with lousy sound. Breakfast was typical danish style with fresh baked bread, danish pastry, boiled eggs etc. Staff were friendly. We decided to have dinner elsewhere since only set menu was offered. There were good parking possibilities and the hotel was also close to the railway station.

disrespectful, and cruel, to individuals with disabilitesThis hotel has a nice location, facilities, and a breakfast service. The problem is with the heartless and cruel management. I was traveling with my 91-year old aunt who has multiple physical handicaps. As we were readying to check out in the morning, my aunt was struck by severe and painful stomach distress and had to spend considerable time in the bathroom, and then later wash-up and change her clothes. Checkout time is 10:30 AM, at 10:45 AM, my aunt was still in the bathroom and the persistent knocking on our door began, We have to clean the room! I explained to the staff that my aunt was in the bathroom and was experiencing a great deal of intestinal distress. How much time do you need? they barked, We need to clean the room. You are late! I explained the situation again and said that we would leave as soon as possible. Five minutes later, the manager returned, You need to get out! We need to clean the room! Four staff members were gathered outside the room, plus the manager, waiting, glaring, knocking, insisting. I explained again, the unanticipated situation and requested their patience and understanding. No! They need to clean the room NOW! A young man and woman barged into the room and began to strip the beds. My naked aunt, who is partially deaf, has low vision and is lame on the left side of her body, emerged from the bathroom, asking what was going on. I brought my aunt her fresh change of clothes and suggested that she dress in the bathroom; the cleaning staff was in the room. We were finally able to get out of that deplorable hotel at about 11:30 AM. Yes, we were late. But, circumstances occasionally arise that are beyond our control. People in the hospitality business should know this and be accommodating, especially to the elderly and to individuals with disabilities. The staff, led by a cold, cruel manager, is completely disrespectful to individuals with differences. We have NEVER been so humiliated while staying at a hotel. I regret that we were as accommodating of their urgent need to clean the room as we were, because it cost my beloved aunt dearly, in emotional and physical suffering. I will never understand or forgive, the brutal treatment we endured at the Hotel Hojbyso. Clearly, they are in the wrong business.
