Great location and view with more than adequate accommodations. Not a 5 star place but very nice place for a family with a budget. We had a car so that made driving around Hakodate easy. The ropeway to the top of Mt. Hakodate is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Walking distance to Mount Hakodate Ropeway StationClean room but hotel very old and aging. Check-in time strictly 3pm. Room size acceptable, considering most of Japanese hotel rooms were pretty small. Room views were generally good, mostly facing town and sea. Free parking and walking distance to Ropeway Station. 15 to 20 minutes walk to town for food and shopping. Free wifi bandwidth and signal pretty decent. Good for one night stay for longer road trip.

Dated Hotel, but old charm maintainedWe stayed 2 nights in a family room. The room is basic but had all that we need, toiletries, towels, slippers, green tea. Our stay was midway through our Hokkaido holiday and we were pleased the self-service washing machine worked well for 200 Yen per load. However it was unfortunate that the drier didn't. We had to run the drier 4 times at 100 Yen per run and the clothes were still not dry :(. You can get the soap from front desk at 50 Yen. The hotel is staffed by extremely friendly and efficient middle-aged men who provided excellent service. They spoke sufficient English for us to get by with no trouble at all. The hotel is strategically located, with the Mt. Hakodate cable car station right next to it. The Hokodate Bus also stops right outside the hotel, both the climbing bus and the city bus. We took the bus, street car (tram) and walked during our 2-night stay there. The city sleeps early. The first night we couldn't find dinner at 9pm but luckily we had something to fill our tummies up at Mt. Hakodate in early evening. By that hour, the town is already asleep and the streets rather deserted. The view from Mt. Hakodate was breathtaking, just beautiful. But the crowd was quite a bit of a challenge. Early June is said to be non-peak, but it didn't seem like it at all. Just a quick recommendation, be sure to try the Creamia ice cream at the mountain. It was delicious!

Basic hotelI stayed here with family for two nights. The hotel is very basic and needs a severe updating. The room was ok but the beds were not so comfortable. The bath/shower fan was in serious need of a cleaning and the front lobby reeked of cigarettes. There are a few vending machines in the lobby but if you want actual food, you'll need to walk. The nearest convenience store is located at the bottom of a steep hill and there are a few izakaya type places in between. The hotel is located in walking distance to the ropeway which made it easy to reach to go up and see the night view Hakodate is famous for.
