    Low standart

I am staying 10 days at the Silverline Lake Resort hotel which is nicely located directly to Lake Balaton. Rooms are expencive 200 Euro a night but that is the only high standart of this hotel. The rooms are not cleaned every day some times only once in three days. Breakfeast is terrible, no mysli, no fruits, dry bread. Machine cofee and only a angry Lady chasing the customers for their room numbers despite having now had my breakfeast there for a week. I am sorry but I can not recoment this place...

    Excellent hotel with friendly staff

We stayed at the silverine resort over the Anna Ball weekend. The suite we booked (room 212) was beautiful ans spacious, ideal for families with one or two babies/kids. When leaving for the Ball, the Gentleman at the reception offered us champagne, we were kindly surprised. I can highly suggest the hotel, clean, great food, friendly staff.

    Hot water not hot!

This is a very pleasant hotel very near the shore of Lake Balaton. WE were there in early May and the weather was cold and wet. There was very little heat in the rooms; but, worse both in the rooms and the Sp[a area, the hot water was hardly warm. This could easily lead to am outbreak of Legionella Disease. The food in the restaurant is good and both breakfast and dinner is buffet style. The spa is reasonable; but could be really nice in good weather.

    Nice but could be better

Hotel in a good location with good facilities at reasonable price. The air condioned rooms are reasonably appointed except for a few niggles. There is a kettle in the room but no tea/coffee is supplied. There is no power socket nearby to plug the kettle in anyway. Still, there is a handy coffee / hot water dispenser in the corridor but that can't be relied upon to be working all the time. The light in the entrance area in our room wasn't working. I wouldn't normally fuss about a little lamp not working but this happened to be in the darkest area of the room and we couldn't see into the drawers, wardrobe or the safe (more about this below). Reported this problem to reception three times over two days. Problem not resolved, no explanation offered so gave up. A safe is a good security to have in the room but we couldn't program our own code in. Not having a light didn't help. Called reception who were quick in responding. A maintenance person appeared at our room and resolved the problem. Apparently we were pressing one button when we should have been pressing another. We were following the instructions correctly but I guess something got lost in translation of instructions from Hungarian to English. Our balcony, rather cramped offered a rather restricted view of the lake. The floor was covered in bird droppings, swallows nesting on the ceiling. We happily gave the balcony up to nature as we seemed to be stopping the birds coming in to feed their young. The bathroom is reasonably equipped and supplied. Our towels got refreshed after a couple of days. The shower head is fixed mounted at about chest height of an average height person, rather low. Water pressure is good but the cubicle leaks water onto the bathroom floor. By the end of our stay, we learnt how to minimise the leaking but not stop altogether. The communal facilities (swimming pools, hot tub, treatment rooms, steam room, salt room, sauna, etc.) were rather good but again let down by non-functionality issues. Although some of the sprays/jets worked fine, others seemed to come on rarely or never, in the outdoor pool. The sauna, steam room and salt room operated on request only, for environmental reasons. Fair enough, but we tried the steam room which did not come on after requesting, so asked again. They came in to check and sure enough, it didn't work. After having sat waiting in a stuffy room for half an hour, we gave up. Don't know why it's not working was the only explanation offered and no sign was put up to inform other guests of the non-functioning facility. Ah well, I suppose we helped save the environment! The outdoor pool temperature was quite refreshing but if you found it cold, it was easy to warm up in the indoor pool. Wi-Fi was very intermittent. Good selection of foods was available for breakfast although I found the range of cereals very limited, but this is the norm for the region and in line with other hotels. The toaster was rather erratic. Overall, our stay at hotel can only be described as satisfactory. It would have been much more enjoyable if we had experienced an attitude to listen to customer complaints. The phrase "Can easily do much better" springs to mind.

    Terrible AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

From the photos and location this hotel really looks the business. Please dont be fooled like we where. I pride myself on being an adept researcher and avid traveller. I stay in 5* hotels, air bnbs, and everything inbetween. This hotel though takes the cake!!! I should have known by the checkin experience something was a miss.... the grumpiest checkin person ever, probably not suited for customer facing posts. We arrived for our 2pm checkin early, asked if we could use the facilities (pool) whilst we waited for our room to become available, to which they obliged. However they informed us our room wouldnt be available until 3:30pm because it was busy season and they hadnt cleaned all the rooms yet. It was then up to me the customer to pull out my booking form which clearly states 2pm checkin with two tired kids in tow. I had emailed our childrens dietary requirements in advance as to make the process go smoothly. I cant stress how under provided for they where - lets just say gluten free bread was their main meal (and due to incomprehensible labelling system, we almost got sick!) usually hotels b&bs etc. prepare a simple meal of say grilled chicken, rice and vegetables on an individual plate - the really good ones talk to me when we arrive and ask about the preferences etc. because of the risk of cross contamination on a buffet - these guys didnt have a CLUE!!! Not to mention oh yes you guessed it some more gluten free bread for pudding On our second day we went out all morning exploring hoping to come back to a freshly made up room by 2pm, but not, no sign of housekeeping at all, never mind the request wed put in for replacement lightbulbs (3 lamps where missing bulbs 3!!!!!) we asked at 2pm if housekeeping could sort out our room - we where rudely told that new checkin rooms got priority and we had to wait and be patient. We finally got our room serviced at 6pm!!!! Oh and no new bulbs Day 3 up early again, appalling breakfast - very little assistance (thankfully there where fruit and vegetable options) asked for room to be cleaned at 9am, also asked for bulbs to be changed. Return back at 1pm - no room service, or bulbs. Complained again.... got quite upset with the hotel.... they finally changed the lightbulbs! But still no sign of housekeeping Went out for a late lunch returned at 4:30 and still an untidy room but they sent an apology fruit basket and bottle of wine but still no cleaned room. I mean if I was the GM of this hotel and I was aware of a problem with the housekeeping Id put in random checks particularly on rooms that Ive received complaints about.... Another dinner of bread and over cooked vegetables.... A very disappointing stay in a very beautiful part of Hungary and particularly disappointing after the hospitality we received in Budapest!!!! For the cost vs value for money I wouldnt ever stay here again - despite their best efforts to get the situation rectified I think the follow through and managerial oversight was appalling. The manager did seem appalled by the situation but didnt check that orders where followed up. My immediate suggestions would be: 1. Customer service training for front of house staff on etiquette and engagement with customers. 2. Audit of allergy management within catering department and set up a protocol for dealing with allergy sufferers to make them feel welcome and catered for - the current protocol simply falls far from what the global expectations are and I would think that the Hungarian health and safety authorities would have a field day picking apart the inadequate provisions. 3. Retrain housekeeping, yes prioritise the new checkins but ensure you have sufficient staff especially during your busiest summer period to ensure that standards are maintained. 4. Consider replacing mattresses on beds that are too big for the actual bed base. 5. Dont be reactive be proactive - you have a great location with nice facilities dont let service destroy what could be a lovely hotel!
