Warm lake and warmhearted peopleWe are planning to come back next year, what a perfect weekend destination! The lake is clear-blue and warm enough to swim even in September, and Hotel Ghiffa seems to be the only hotel in Ghiffa with its own beach and direct access to the lake. There also is a swimming pool with an amazing lake view. We rented a boat at the hotel and went to see the islands of the Lago Maggiore - what an experience! The hotel conveniently has its own parking as well. The only thing - the free breakfast is not particularly filling, youll find boiled eggs, cheese, ham, granola and yoghurts, which is enough for me, but for hungrier people there is an option to order omelette for about 5 extra. Otherwise, Hotel Ghiffa has about everything you need! All the amazing people working at the hotel were very kind and helpful and made our stay truly wonderful!

Great StayWe have just got back from a ten day stay at this hotel. It was excellent. There is not a lot going on in Ghiffa itself but that is what makes it so relaxing and so in my view it is an ideal place to stay if you want to relax. It is also easy to access local busier towns via the regular boats and buses and these are very cheap. The staff in the hotel, from reception staff to the waiters, to the domestics are very professional and go out of their way to help you. Special thanks to Laura and Kienis (hope I got your name correct!) on reception. The hotel is tastefully decorated and very clean and the views are simply stunning. If you can, book a room with a terrace. We fell in love with Ghiffa and the people there. Twice, when stood at a bus stop, locals stopped their car to give us a lift into Intra! This hotel continues to promote the family feel and is somewhere that we will definitely return to.

Disappointing for this price rangeRooms are completely outdated. Seems like they have not done anything since the 80s. The building has a fantastic potential, as it is very nicely built and the location is stunning. The pool and beach are very nice, but thats where it all ends. Breakfast was terrible and the staff seem to be lost. Pity....

This place could be so much more! Disappointing...This place could be so much more! Stayed for two nights (room 312, seaview), the location and the deck for sunbathing is simply stunning: clean, right next to the sea, covered with sand. Rooms are small, but generally okay (exceptions below). The seaview rooms have a great view overlooking the lake. But thats about it. When we arrived we wanted to have a coffee on the restaurant terrace but were told that its a restaurant and for a coffee we have to go to the poolbar. The coffee there is served in a paper cup. The poolbar guy seemed to be too busy with his mobile that he denied to bring a drink to the sunchairs, about 20m away, although he clearly had nothing to do. On the weekend, a lot of sunchairs were "reserved" for outside guests. Although the hotel claims air condition in the rooms, this information is not quite correct. You have to tell reception to switch it on and off, as there is no individual control in the room. How to contact reception? You have a phone in the room, but absolutely no room information. Same with the minibar: Although the hotel proudly features minibars in the room, our room had none. Had to go to the bar, waited 3mins. because no one was there and had to return empty. You get different beach towels, some bigger, some smaller. When asking for the bigger ones they said there are none available this day (?) and when asking for a second one the request gets refused. Wi-fi? Didnt work in our room and not on the sundeck. Breakfast was less than average: Limited choice and if you're rather late (bit still within breakfast time) you risk that some things (croissants, cheese...) are simply not available anymore. And: This is Italy and youll get instant coffee for breakfast! There is a possibility to order real coffee, unfortunately nobody tells you and it costs extra. We were disappointed, as the price was above 200/night and with a bit more (service) effort this could be an amazing place. For us, the value for money was not good.
