Spirit of Erich Honecker is still present in Geisler HotelGeisler was the only available hotel during my stay due to some big event in Cologne. It was the first sign that it may not be the best idea to stay there. The only advantage of the stay was that Hotel was located in a walking distance from a Porz-Wahn train station, which in turn is about 5 min long travel from Cologne Airport. Already front desk reveals the sad truth about hotel, it is simply dated - nothing has been improved since it was built in 1981. Receptionist speaks frankly - only German... (a few English words - does not count) which for some maybe difficult to communicate with. My room was at 2nd floor (#103) - it was supposed to be a room for non-smokers but it turned to be soaked with cigarette smoke... and the receptionist refused to change it (supposedly all the rooms were booked). Decor of the room was terrible... (see my photos) it is not on the par with the current European standards. It seemed to me that time stood still from the moment when the hotel was build (1981)... Equipment was sparse and equally dated as hotel. Do not expect a kettle or a bottle of water. All rooms lack of air-conditioning which in summer is a big issue. Even though thick blinds do not improve the situation... and thanks to them a room looks like a prison cell. Room #103 was very cramped. Beds were not too comfy and pillows very flaccid. However cleanliness was not an issue. Free Wi-Fi was not reliable (and slow) when it was working. The time I stayed at the hotel I could only get connected being in the lobby or at the back of the hotel. Breakfast included in the rate was plain but edible. Nothing I had, was negatively remembered. Waiter service could be improve... restaurant was not full and the waiter was able to figure out whom to serve (e.g. tea or coffee) The biggest annoyance was the price for a night at 137,5 EUR (!!!) which was a like robbery! Simply put I would never stay at this hotel from my free will...

Old but nice hotelStayed for a week. Rooms are very old, with carpet and not so good quality bed or pillows. Dust in the very old furniture (dated from early 1980's). WiFi is not so good also. Located 5 minutes away from Porz-whan trains station (3 minutes from airport) and 20 minutes away from Cologne. Old and cheap hotel...not the first or second choice...but for the price what could you ask more...?!

A Step Back In Time !I booked this Hotel as it is down the road from a friends party I was attending. When I checked in the Receptionist was lovely and very helpful. From the reception you could see the Restaurant and its Old and Dated furnishings ( Reminded me of the film Titanic) The bedroom was clean and quiet with tacky dated furniture. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were so old all the feathers were broken so offered no comfort or support. I asked for another pillow and was told they were all the same and was given a single duvet instead that I folded into a Pillow. The next morning I was woken up by the Chambermaids Laughing and Talking (Not Happy). The Breakfast was a sort of Brunch with many dishes to choose from and when I checked out I got charged an extra 6 for City Tax so 154 for 2 nights B+B . I thought that was expensive. I would suggest you bring your own pillows if you decide to stay in this overpriced, Addams Family Style Hotel.

Terrible hotelDirty hotel with impolite receptionist. Old furniture and uncleaned carpets and curtains. Missing completely the basic confort and cleaning. Only few rooms renewed at 3rd floor but the entire 2nd floor is terrible. I can't understand how is admitted to operate.

Charm of The FiftiesI stayed for one night at this hotel which emanates the style of the fifties. The lamps , the flowers, the curtains and even the colour of the built in closet fit into this frame. I missed a hairdryer, maybe in the fifties they didnt have such gadgets.
