  Venue stunning but food bland & disappointing

  Both the inside and outside of this venue is beautiful, stylish and very appealing, we couldnt wait to have a special family dinner here..... Our table was booked for 7pm and we were greeted and seated promptly by a polite and enthusiastic waiter and the menu looked great. All down hill from here unfortunately. Within 10 mins of ordering our meals arrived (to me thats far too fast to cook, present and serve good quality food). My kids fish & chips and snitzel & chips consisted of just that.... dry unattractive bog standard food on a plate with a teeny tiny serve of sauce on the side. It was almost impossible to cut the fish and chicken. My husbands $45 porterhouse steak (ordered medium rare) was medium well done and thrown on a plate with little to no attention to detail. My salmon was really tasty but presentation was really poor. Both my salmon and my husbands steak had a lump of frozen garlic butter popped on top.... so frozen it didnt even melt on the warm meat. All in all we were really disappointed, we didnt even wait to order dessert so we ordered a taxi home at 7.50pm instead. Was Frangos having a bad night?? Maybe!

  Great Food - New Talented Welsh Chief !

  Standard of the food has shot up, since the hired a new ginger cook from Cymru; not only is he a culinary genius but also a dab hand at traditional welsh dancing - which he does wearing heavy hobnail boots & carrying a old fashioned witches broom. Luckly, for us he agreed to perform & will readily do so for larger parties; just ask if 'Tom the chef, can come out & perform Dawns y Glocsen' - the way he leapt in the air at the end & extinguished the candle by clicking his boots together mid air, made our groups jaw drop! Finally, he makes a mean Peach Melba which is his signature & a MUST if you dining there - just ask for its as its an 'off the menu' pudding which is the perfect way to round off a meal. p.s if you're reading this & staying there just call room service & ask for the Peach Melba flambe which he serves with a flaming glass of his own private stock of Penderyn whiskey !

  Stupid shower

  Had three nights in this wonderful old building well placed right in the centre off town Only chose to eat here one night the meal was good but nothing special Breakfasts were good and filling Rooms clean and comfortable The bath and shower set up are nothing short of just stupid Overall enjoyed our stay

  The best thing about this hotel is the location.

  Room & furniture very tired looking, shabby. Nothing like the rooms presented on the website. Food well below average. "Guest lounge" is used as a meal/break room for staff on all shifts so indeed cannot be used by guests as a lounge. Extremely disappointed, shall not return to this hotel.

  Worth a visit

  I had lunch here when travelling on through Victoria and l was very glad l stopped here. My meal was delicious, staff were excellent and the atmosphere was great. Definately worth a visit when in Daylesford.
