Hotel FaidherbeVery basic, does the job. Stayed one night on the way back to the UK. Good location in the centre of Boulogne. Our room was basic, could have done with a better clean. The staff were helpful and friendly.

AWFULWent here years ago and it was a quaint place to stay. It was never a luxurious place but it was always clean and the staff friendly. We have just come back from a trip to France and we booked to stay there. We had to wait 4hrs before they would let us check, which is done at the hotel over the road. When we eventually got through the door the stench was horrendous, it was like there were open sewers running through the hotel, it didnt abate as we ascended to our rooms!! Rooms is stretching it they were boxes with beds in and the walls were so flimsy they wobbled if you touched them. To call it a hotel is really a stretch of the imagination, we thought it was a hostel for the homeless. We couldnt stay in it they offered to let us stay over the road but the lift wasnt working and I am disabled. Avoid this if you can I wouldnt even say its ok for one night!!

Very basic but in a good locationHotel Faidherbe is ideally located close to shops, amenities and the fishing port. It is now unmanned by any staff and is managed from the Brasserie Hamiot across the street. Car parking in an underground car park is available, though a little expensive at 9 per day. The spaces are not numbered or marked in any way and a very insulting note was left on my car by a French woman who said I was in her space; in the note she accused me of opportunistically finding a free space by taking advantage of the open door not nice but typical of the slightly hostile attitude now adopted by the French towards the English. As a Francophile of many years standing I find it hard to say this but, where we were once extended a warm welcome in Boulogne-sur-Mer there is now a noticeably unwelcoming attitude on the part of many of the French. Having checked in at the Brasserie Hamiot we were given a key with a code to enter the Hotel. We asked about the free Wi-fi which was a part of the deal but nobody knew the code. A helpful manager made a phone call to obtain the code and wrote it down for me but it was incorrect and at this point I gave up. The room was very small, basic and hot but the two beds were comfortable enough and the bathroom was clearly a recent addition very nice it was too. On arrival there were only three coathangers in the small wardrobe; I left a note in my best French for the cleaners asking for more and this resulted in more hangers being left that day. The cleaners came each day and did their job well and there were no problems. Breakfast at the Brasserie Hamiot cost 8.50 per day per person, which we considered a massive rip-off for what is basically bread and jam and/or cheese with coffee; local cafés were better and cheaper. Our reasons for booking this hotel were the car-parking and the wi-fi; parking in Boulogne-sur-Mer is difficult and expensive unless you can get off-street. A pity the wi-fi didn't materialise but I really couldn't be bothered to go and ask them again so we did without it. Thank goodness for 4G...

If you get it cheap, ok.Comfortable beds, without terrible plastic covers om the matress, good sound insulation from the street, modern and fairly spacy bathroom, central location. Many minor details were lacking or bad. The hotel needed a renovation some 20 years agoo. The reception was not open 19 pm!! Impossible to get WiFi. No bedlights. Sparse toilet-things. Shampoo enough for a short and thin hair. Armchair which should be in the place where you find garbage.

You pay for what you getThis is a hotel in a decent location. The rooms are basic but theres no plastic coating on the mattresses. Ours was quite spacious, the bathroom was just a shower cubicle and toilet Breakfast was pretty standard fare being a choice of tea and coffee, cereals and croissants
