  I travelled to Montlucon not knowing what to expect. On arrival at the Hotel the welcome was warm and helpful with information on local sights and places to eat being very forthcoming. The area it is set in however did give me some concerns as it is in quite an industrial part of town but walking around on my own at night felt safe. My room was basic, as they are in this chain of hotels, but perfectly functional for my needs. The showers and toilets were clean and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was well stocked and the dining area kept very clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a place simply to get a rest whilst sightseeing in the area. My only negatve comment would be the smell of stale smoke in the corridors. As a recommendation for places to eat in the old tome, try Autel de la crêpe, great and very friendly. I wanted to try Les Douze Apôtres but it was fully booked for the days I was visiting. Take time to explore the old town. Enjoy!!

  As good as any other formular one

  I stay in farmular one hotels alot with work as a place to stay in France as I am traveling between Spain and the UK, and I quite like them you have to share a bathroom and toilet with 8 other people also you only get a sheet to sleep under and not a duvet, but they are cheap offer free wifi that mainy expensive hotels dont do and you get free parking and a discount in a local restaurant. The Montlucon Formular One has the added benifit that it has a Carrefour supermarket near by and it is only a walk into an area with a few shops and bar / restaurants when normally these things can be a drive away. I will probably come back.

  Oops this was a bit budget

  Arrived late on motorcycle and needed secure parking. F1 fits the bill. But reception was not warm, no entente cordiale here! Despite no smoking in hotel, the room smelt of cigarettes and someone was having a crafty cig in the loo in the corridor (remember no en suite with F1) and you could smell the smoke over the whole floor. Hotel was clean, the communal shower and toilet arrangement was OK and it was cheap. So I guess you get what you pay for!
