  Interesting place!

  We've driven by this place a lot, and I've wanted to stay there. So we made reservations and did. The hotel is so beautiful. So much history. The rooms are old, but have been remodeled and where nice. Great shower and bathroom. The beds are okay. It was really cold that night and we could feel cold coming into the windows, but not too bad. I loved the saloon and restaurant area!! It was all so cool. We could have walked and looked forever. Every place you looked was a piece of history! The ladies working there was so nice!! I really enjoy the home town, lovely personalities of these people. They also handled all the breaking news of the COVID-19 with professional and consideration of the patrons. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and especially the saloon!

  I love this place!!

  On a road trip and found this historic gem! Character abounds, the owners are truly kind people! Bummed (not upset) that I couldnt enjoy their restaurant and saloon. Room super clean, and the E branded custom furniture is amazing!! Dont miss this place!! Getting ready to go buy a handmade clock in their gift shop before I hit the road! Thank you for a great nights sleep!

  Great Stopover on the way to Red River

  This is a jewel in a small town on the New Mexico/Texas border, the history and ambiance is worth the stop alone! What makes this a must in your travel itinerary is the staff/owners. Jo Beth is not only part of the hotel operations, she and her family are part of the history, in addition to being a wonderful artist in multiple mediums! She made our evening a special one, and we plan to visit them again on our return home! Definitely a reasonable price for a spacious, clean room, and a very tasty homemade breakfast!

  Passing through

  This is an awesome hotel that steps back in time but still up to the times with modern continence such as a/c, restrooms in the room, and t/v. Most hotels from 1892 era are tight and inconvenient with families. We were passing through and due to the pandemic the restaurant and bar were closed, but we did get some awesome breakfast that was well made from the staff or owners. We look forward to coming back and staying a couple of nights when things open back up. The second floor front rooms offer access from out of the room onto the front balcony with tables and chairs, which would be awesome with a group of friends or family to complete the night.

  You Should Stay Here

  We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Eklund. We wanted to view the nearby tri-state marker for New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma and we would not have found it if the hotel employee had not drawn out a map for us; we appreciate her taking the time to do this for us. Youll enjoy the creaks as you walk around and take in the history of this building. You should expect the quirks of staying in an old building. We enjoyed staying in a room with the balcony and the outdoor patio area was also nice.
