I will come again and again and again to this hotelConveniently located in the port of Ishigaki, with wide balconies that offer views of the ocean and the harbor, this is hands down the most practical and welcoming hotel in Ishigaki. It offers all modern conveniences, has a super-fast wifi connection, and features great bathrooms and cozy beds. This is a place to recover from a trip in style.

We had a terrible stay, not recommended! The beds were redicously hard. At the second night at the hotel we struggled sleeping. We were glad we booked only two nights. Stay away from this hotel. Although the location is good, it doesn't worth it.

A bit dated, but nice view on the harbourI spent a night at "Hotel East China Sea" for a reasonable rate, after I had a very quick look at their website. While the room is spacious, with balcony and rather clean, everything seemd a bit dated, but otherwise functional. The reception booth is on the groundfloor and you will need again to exit to take one lift serving all the floors, which can lead to some waiting time, if the hotel is busy. The rooms again are accessible by open-air corridor. Other than a breakfast room, I didn't find any other facilities. However, you can reach a multitude of restaurants and bars by a short walk. If you look for "no frills" and the price is good, you will get a decend room at a very convienent location for further activities. But don't expect anything fancy nor any charm.

A decent 3-star hotel next to the portThis hotel is about 2 mins walk to the ferry terminal, and walking distance to many eateries. Over our 5 nights stay here, we stayed at various rooms - the Japanese room with the tatami mats and futon, the Hollywood twin room, the port view twin room and the suite with terrace on the highest 13th floor. Tatami mats in the Japanese rooms are nice but the area is a little small and the futons are a little thin. The WC and shower are separated in the Japanese room. The Hollywood twin room and port view twin rooms are fine for 2 persons but a little tight for 3. Bathrooms are a little small to fit two persons in the twin rooms. There are only two suites on the 13th floor. The suite is way more spacious with the WC, shower and wash basin areas separated, a big terrace on the side and a balcony in front. The terrace and balcony offers a great view of the port and sea but the walls could do with a little repainting. I was awakened up by noise from the port every morning if the balcony door was not closed. But closing the doors filtered out the noise significantly. All rooms face the port / sea and no rooms face inland. This also meant that there are no rooms on the other side of the corridor and as the corridors did not have windows, you will feel the weather immediately upon exiting your rooms. It is the same with the hotel lobby - you will feel the wind immediately outside the lobby doors. We loved the buffet breakfast every morning. There is free flow Japanese food, Okinawa dishes, Western selection, good espresso, ice cream. The variety of fresh fruits can be improved. Another percularity is that they do not provide knives to butter or speed the jam on the toast / croissant. Breakfast may seem a little expensive but we soon realised that there are not many choices for breakfast outside the hotel, and for the amount we ate, it was definitely worth it. Over alternate days, some of the dishes vary, so we did not get sick of the food. There are 3 top-load washers and 3 dryers at a sheltered but open-air area on the ground floor of the hotel. Each wash cost 300Y and every 30 mins of drying cycle cost 100Y. There is washing powder free for one to use. The washers are not exactly coin-operated - you need to turn on the washers then go to the lobby, pay 300Y, then will the washers start. So in cold and windy weather, do wear warm clothes when you do the laundry as you will feel the wind while walking back and forth. Despite paying for the dryers, they are really lacking in performance and the clothes are not dry even after 2 cycles and despite not overloading them. Both the washers and dryers are in need of updating. There are 5 bicycles for loan for 3 hours. They work by an honour system, you will not be charged if you return them later than 3 hrs, but you are asked not to do so. The bikes are loaned out on a first-come-first-served basis. You need to get the keys from the lobby to unlock the bikes. Staff are generally friendly and helpful. They have a little gadget that will help to translate. I was amazed by how the staff seem to be able to serve multiple roles - from checking the bidet to serving at reception to serving at breakfast. From the airport, you can take bus 4, 10 or the airport direct bus to the port, then walk to the hotel. The airport direct buses are cheaper and faster then bus 4, 10. Overall, a great choice for the price we paid.

GoodStaying here for 13 nights. We have a room on the 10th floor overlooking the port which is interesting and it seems to totally close down at night,so very quiet.we found the beds very comfy unlike another reviewer.Breakfast is excellent, good mixture, its a pity the restaurant is only open for breakfast although there are many places to eat in the immediate area.Good place to stay but if you hire a car there is only paid parking nearby. All the hotel staff are friendly, helpful and curteous. No complaints.
